Palin Directed Stevens' "Excellence In Public Service" 527

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin began building clout in her state's political circles in part by serving as a director of an independent political group organized by the now embattled Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens.

Palin's name is listed on 2003 incorporation papers of the "Ted Stevens Excellence in Public Service, Inc.," a 527 group that could raise unlimited funds from corporate donors. The group was designed to serve as a political boot camp for Republican women in the state. She served as one of three directors until June 2005, when her name was replaced on state filings.

Palin's relationship with Alaska's senior senator may be one of the more complicated aspects of her new position as Sen. John McCain's running mate; Stevens was indicted in July 2008 on seven counts of corruption.

The public was introduced to this slogan by head lobbyist for the group, Newt Gingrich, in late April of this year. American Solutions is funded by the same exact folks that funded the swift boat operation. "Drill here, drill now," the exact phrasing the McCain has repeated ad nauseum all summer, continues to appear, front and center, on AMERICANSO­LUTIONS.CO­M

And by the by... they have a manifesto that calls for the overthrow of the american government in favor of efficiency managers and Sigma Six. No joke.

It's time for someone (where's Walter Cronkite?) to stand up and say what is obvious to everyone: Sarah Palin is NOT QUALIFIED TO BE VP AND SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM THE TICKET NOW!!! The prospect that she will be a heartbeat away from the presidency is not: a) just a joke; b) the ULTIMATE insult to women (including all Hillary supporters), but also; c) an extremely dangerous and embarrassing prospect not just for Republicans but for anyone who cares about America.

McCain selected her over many other good GOP options and even less toxic bad options.

When all is said and done, it's likely the the "reformer" label is going to be found to be targeted. She was for Stevens, before she was against him. She was for the "Bridge to Nowhere" before she was against it. She was for the people of Ketchikan, indignantly claiming that the rest of the nation disrespected them by calling them "nowhere," before she canceled the project, but KEPT the earmarked money. And each day brings something new.

When all is said and done, the folks in corruption that she will have fought against will be those who were political targets, even within her own party. They were the easiest to hit and it was easier to knock them off using corruption as a means to attack. She may have some "maverick moments," even McCain parted ways with Bush 5% of time, but she's a party hardliner on some of the more extreme areas of the party. She may not have foreign affairs experience, but make no mistake about it, she's very political. She reminds me of a smarter version of Katherine Harris. I would urge folks not to underestimate what she might be capable of doing.

Governor Palin was introduced to the American people on Friday and the first thing she did was lie to us about the bridge to nowhere. And now Ted Stevenson. She said she railed against the good ole boy club hell, she seems more like its president.

They chose this woman to make a splash the day after Obama's speech. And they chose her for no other reason than to move the religious right into McCain's camp by her staunch Anti-abortion stance.
I think the religious right needs to try to get into it's head the reasonable stand that no one wants or supports abortion. The left just believes if something really bad is happening during a pregnancy that dangers the life of the mother, there should be a choice. What is happening here is the right is willing to throw over all other concerns facing our Country to support Palin on this one policy, which is just crazy. We need someone who has at least something going for them besides an anti-abortion position. Come on people on the right, at least use a little bit of intelligent common sense.

I disagree..­.. The right to have an abortion under a bad situation is what most people agree on. Those of us on the left believe that the right to an abortion as a pure choice also cannot be compromised.

I will never agree to a law that states that an abortion cannot be done based solely on the parent's wishes not to give birth to a child. Abortion is performed on a fetus, not a child. Any other belief is religious. The constitution protects me from other people's religious beliefs.

If ever 70% of the population agrees that a fetus is a child, then they can have an amendment passed. Until then, I refuse to have my life dictated by a minority of religious fanatics.
