George H.W. Bush Checks His Watch (Again) During Laura Bush's Speech

A Democrat sends over this humorous, nostalgia-inducing video of George H.W. Bush checking out his watch during Tuesday night's Republican convention address by first lady Laura Bush.

The elder Bush, who was cheered wildly by the crowd in Minneapolis both when highlighted by speakers and during video biography, quite famously suffered a watch-related gaffe during his re-election bid in 1992. In a televised debate with Bill Clinton, Bush was caught by camera glancing at his wristwatch as his Clinton addressed an audience member who had detailed her struggles in the wake of the economic recession.

The episode, overplayed by the media, made Bush seem at worst uneasy or bored by the story. This time around, in all likelihood, it will only be his daughter in law who is affected by the watch glancing.

Hey, I'm not 88 not even 60 and get bored listening the Laura Bush, look at her............says everything with the same tone of voice no matter if it is excited or sad and after her sentence...... God people are so clueless...that's not Bill Clinton in the photo shown above while George checks his watch...that's Ross Perot....no wonder our country is in trouble...they believe what they read in the press and not what the see with their own eyes.

Those who watched the convention know that he was timing the length of applause to various points the First Lady made.

The Bushes are quite competitive and no doubt he made a comparison with the applause given to his son's speech.

Also, the camera men had trouble to focus on a mass of people since so many empty spaces
were behind it. They did not dare to show the whole inside like they did with Obama, whose
spaces were filled to the gill.
