Bloomberg:

Former Texas Senator Phil Gramm, who stepped aside as John McCain's campaign co-chairman in July after an uproar over comments that those worried about the U.S. economy are ``whiners,'' today revisited that sentiment.

``If you're sitting here today, you're not economically illiterate and you're not a whiner, so I'm not worried about who you're going to vote for,'' Gramm told supporters of McCain at a Financial Services Roundtable event in Minneapolis on the sidelines of the Republican National Convention.

Gramm, 66, stepped down as a senior adviser to McCain in July after telling the Washington Times that the U.S. is a ``nation of whiners'' facing a ``mental recession.''

Whenever I speak of Mr. Gramm....I am always considerate....and use his full name:

The INSUFFERABLE Phil Gramm......

Purely out of respect for his service to our country, ...of course

This "whiner" is also not watching the RNC. And probably many other "whiners" are not watching it.

They are doing nothing wrong until the fascists decided that the freedom of speech doesn't belong to anyone but the thugs of the republican crime family. Gustapo tactics and fascism are party traits of the Greedy Oil Party.

Conservatives can't whine because they're getting just what they voted for.

Hmm, interesting logic. Did you get the change you expected in 2006 from all the Dems in the house & senate?

This year under Dem leadership, 106 bills passed . . . 98% renamed post offices, federal land or day of the year.

What would you do if we didn't have national "watermelon month"?

what we are going to do when the redumblicans don't have enough votes to stall good legislation.

No whining about losing.

How can anybody take Phil Gramm seriosly? He was the original Lieberman, turning from a Democrat to a republiwhiner when he was about to lose his chairmanship in 1980.

Phil Gramm almost singlehandedly fought for deregulation of the large financial banks and Wall Street. He's largely responsible for the disreputable mortgage/foreclosure mess so many are suffering with now. He's one reason our son, who is in the construction business, is having such a hard time, and why our elderly neighbors can't sell their house to move into assisted living. Phil Gramm lined his pockets and those of his corporate friends and hung the middle and lower classes out to dry. And McCain wants him to be his Secretary of the Treasury? That's like putting a fox right inside the henhouse. Gramm is greedy and disgusting. He certainly doesn't put "country first."And he stands there with a smirk on his face and has the gall to call us "whiners"?

high up among the many things that make me question McCain's judgement is ongoing solicitation of of the opinion of the profoundly discredited former senator Phil Graham. Any "normal" working person who would go anywhere near Mr. Graham and his elitist, fascist views of economic, social and political reality deserves what he gets. He and his wife gave us Enron and the raping of California utility customers. If you watched him campaign for president, and observed his remarkable arrogance, you know what I am talking about. One thing you have to say about the republican leadership and their fall in line followers is, they never cease to amaze!

Republicans always portray themselves as salt of the earth and victims.
Someone is always out to get them. Talk about whiners.

McCain must NOT have been in the room, because he is economically illiterate and can't even add up the number of houses he owns
