Broadcasting & Cable:

According to CNN, Republican presidential nominee Sen. John McCain (Ariz.) pulled out of a scheduled interview with the network after a segment with Campbell Brown and a top McCain spokesman Monday night in which Brown asked for examples of a foreign-policy decision made by Republican vice president pick Sarah Palin.

McCain was scheduled to appear on Larry King Live, but CNN's Wolf Blitzer said Tuesday that the campaign told the news network they thought Brown's interview with spokesman Tucker Bounds was "over the line."

What a crybaby. If he won't answer questions relevant to experience or anything while he is running for president, just think how he will be if he won. Another dictator in chief.

McCain is a coward. He claims his POW experience has qualified him to be Commander in Chief but if you read his autobiography you know he admitted to having cracked under pressure. Now he can't endure a Larry King interview. Imagine what would happen if Tim Russert was the interviewer? He would be eaten alive.

The news these days is difficult to discern. The FOX network is a mouthpiece fro all causes conservative and the republican party. Air America serves the same purpsoe for democrats. The national news outlets are practically irrelevant. Conservative talk radio doomintes the dial Rush, Hannity, O'Rielly etc. Very few liberal shows. Not to mention bloggers with opinions on both sides.

Who are we to believe? When Walter Cronkite spoke we listended. He rarley offewered opinion, with the exception being the Viet Nam war.

Look what happended to Helen Thomas when she criticized the bush administartion. Though a senior correspondent, she was out after her critical words.

I applaude CNN for making at least a feeble attempt aat unbiased reporting. I do not know where else to look for at least a chance at hearing authentic news.

I believe that a free and critical press is crucial to our freedom and to our success.

I love Bill Moyers but I wanted to know that he had a DWI and that it sounds like his son is pretty screwed up. The news should not be inb the business of creating image perfect people. They are human too. Focus on the objectivity of the story and do not put such a focus on TV personalities.

It reminds me of the political cult of personality. Ordinary people daw the cloak of governor or senator and wham, they are now all nowing and should not be questioned about anything.

.

No more rich kid dummies!

This is one of the most immature and stupid acts of McCain's life (and I'm including cheating on his wife wife with Cindy, choosing Palin as his VP nominee and the Keating Five). I saw the interview. Campbell's questions were completely appropriate. One of Tucker's talking points was that Palin made decisions as Governor regarding the Alaskan National Guard, giving her executive experience. So, logically, Campbell asked for an example of one of those decisions. Tucker stammered, kept changing the subject and would not answer the question. Campbell tried to clarify the question, and Tucker acted like it wasn't relevant, even though it was one of the Republican talking points. Look, McCain, you picked someone to be your VP nominee who nobody knows, so the media is entitled to ask questions about her. That's not going over the line!

I'm surprised McCain doesn't get rid of Tucker Bounds. I could tell by watching an interview with him that he was surprised and not pleased with the Palin choice. He's a good strategist, and he should have done his own research even though the McCain camp failed to fully vet her. I don't think his heart is into it.

I still don't understand McCain's thought process... don't American voters have the right to know what the candidates positions are so that they can make an informed decision. Isn't that what a campaign is to begin with? Apparently McCain has spent millions of dollars just to print out campaign signs and slogans, but doesn't really have anything to offer underneath all of that. Because if he did, we would have heard about what this supposed "change" is that he wants to offer.

As a side note, it's interesting how he says he wants change, and wants to work in a bi-partisan way, etc, but the moment someone disagrees or questions him, he cuts them off. Sound familiar? The only effective way for everyone to work together and get things done the RIGHT way is to ask important questions and have mature debates so that the best solutions can be found. I don't think McCain is capable of that at all....

Maybe this is about the judgement that McCain keeps touting that he has and Obama does not. This is a kneejerk action in order to get the women who are disappointed and stil poutning over HRC. Neither are wise, mature or responsible behaviors.

At this late date in the election cycle, McCain still desparately attempts to find some campaign slogan!! I'm absolutely disgusted at this Sarah who allows herself & her children to be so exploited!! Exploited in that her house is not in order ... she should not have accepted Mc's offer ... this is pure and unadulterated "sexism" to have plucked this woman out of the literal darkness ... that in and of itself says it all! Then to pit her against Obama instead of Biden is silly season!

This would be entertaining if it weren't so depressingly tragic and potentially lethal. sarah palin and John mccain leading this nation to - where actually - the 15th century?

Palin the younger is a religious fanatic who eschews global warming and science in general and believes in book burning and probably worse, while McGruff, the old guy, well, he's just a has-been 'maverick' who is grasping at any trick to get himself elected to fulfill the bush legacy of bullying everyone else into submission.

How do you spell armegeddon? (sic)

CNN - can't wait for him to come to you. Remember the old days - You need to go after the son-of-bitch if you want the truth.

Wow, the maverick is whinning! Campbell Brown would have been neglecting her duties as an interviewer if she did not ask the questions that a lot of people want to know the answer to. So what if McCain doesn't go back on Larry King - oh well.

So much for being a tough guy... he can't even take a little criticism/different view points from one tv reporter... what on earth would he do in the White House if someone disagrees with him? Unbelievable. He doesn't want to just simply answer what the positions and facts are about his campaign so that people can decide fairly... it is so childish and petty.

That's a great move for McCain. Yeah. Turn down free air time. Could it be his hot temper is clouding his judgment?

DO NOT UNDERRESTIMATE GOV. PALIN. She is NO JOKE.
Expect Gov. Palin to do well tonight. She may be new, but she is VERY GOOD.
People like her public image. This is enough to get votes.

They lowered the expectations on her, but she WILL exceed them.
She is telegenic. She knows how to give a speech. She connects with people.

Despite her inexperience, she DID beat sitting Governor Murkowski, and she DID beat Big Oil, partly because they thought she would be easy. She is NOT.

Do not underestimate this woman. She is smart and she is tough.
This is a PBS interview. Not biased.

And she really knows how get things done.
This is also not Biased. Very informative.

Watch her tonight. Know your enemy.

If she were as smart as you contend, she would focus on raising her tribe of children!

Although John McCain referred to Chelsea as "UGLY", at least her mother was a mother to her.........as evidenced by the product. Hillary Clinton raised her CHILD, and Chelsea is a well adjusted, bright, successful woman.

Tell us how she beat big oil while getting everyone to pray for the $20 BILLION gas pipeline. That is real executive experience and the way to get things done, pray for them. What a lop-eared-yahoo.

I think this is more about Brown's quest to become a "true journalist". She was passed over at NBC for the top slot, left there to go to CNN. She either decided or was tutored (perhaps a combo) to "get tough" and make a name for herself. Did she go "over the top" with her interview the other day? It’s debatable for certain. Compare this video clip of her interviewing E d wards with the one that caused the controversy.

My God it's Oz. Talk about "pay no attention to that man behind the curtain". And God forbid we actually want to know something about our elected officials. These people are pathetic.

Oh Boo Hoo! So much for the "Maverick". Be a man Geritol John, stand up and defend your choice. Think it's a coincidence that we haven't seen Palin do one major netowork interview. Don't get mad John, because the media has to do the vetting job you and your campaign were SUPPOSED to do.
