Katie Holmes

When Katie Holmes' Broadway show "All My Sons" opens Oct. 16, ticket holders won't be the only ones in attendance. The anti-Scientology group Anonymous will be on hand for Holmes' Broadway debut as well.

The group confirms that a protest will take place opening night. "We aren't looking to shut it ("All My Sons") down, we don't have the power to do that, we just want to prove a point," one spokesperson (who remains anonymous, natch) confirmed via phone.

Anonymous' protests, when they take place in person (the group often launches Web-based protests) are easy to spot, thanks to the tell-tale masks Anonymous members wear. The group, which calls itself a "leaderless worldwide group of concerned citizens" recently picketed the Scientology Center on West 46th Street in New York.

Of the group's plans to picket the "Sons" opening, the spokesperson said their main aim was to "save Katie." "We want to draw attention to Scientology, and hopefully get Katie out of it before its too late."

Coincidentally enough, according to some sources, Tom's been boycotting Katie's "opening" since they met.

i see what you did there. your are using innuendo to imply that tom cruise is secretly gay. I wish there were more ways we could smear his character so that we could ridicule him enough to destroy him. There is nothing I love more than to mock and humiliate others.

Love your post Swerinjer. You totally called it for what it is. Pookster80's comment is covert and asinine. Leave Katie alone and let her do her thing. "hey, I hate cheese, so I'm going to go and demonstrate outside of Wendy's restaurant because they serve cheese. " Religious freedom means just that!

To be clear, all religion is a CULT but scientology seems to be more radical in it's methods than most, well if you don't count the catholic church. I hate all of them equally.

Ssaz, Thats fair. Based on what you may have heard about Scientology, it would be a logical thing to think. Except that all of what Anonymous forwards into the media is simply not true. It is a smear campaign designed to get thinking people to "be against" the subject , before they ever get a chance to hear the truth. Typical, run of the mill, propaganda. They have their own reasons for doing it, but it has nothing to do with the validity of Scientology.
And, Scientology is described as a religious philosophy, and not a ritual based religion like Christianity has become. You actually use Scientology in your every day life and benefit from the practical data that Scientology is. Some object to others becoming more "free" and more happy. These individuals are insane to that degree, and that would adequately describe Anonymous and all those who ally themselves with this group.
So, I like your response a lot more than the asinine individuals who target an actress for her religion of choice. Sounds a little bit like the wrong target doesnt it? If they don't like Scientology, they should go there and demonstrate. Leave Katie Holmes alone and let her flourish and succeed. Isn't that her right as an American?

I will not see a Tom Cruise or Katie Holmes movie, just as I won't go to Walmart or buy a Dominos Pizza. I live my political and religious ideals with my discretionary spending It is the only "clout" I have and I intend to use it.

What did Katie Holmes do to offend your delicate political and religious sensibilities?

I agree. I refuse to see any movie staring or produced by Tom Cruise and likewise I will do the same for Katie Holmes. To be married to Tom Cruise she must conform to the same ideology as he does other wise he would divorce her. If she has half a brain she will divorce him before she is completely brain washed into the cult called scientology. I'm with you, not a cent to any actor that supports scientology.

Real classy to harrass her for her husband's religious beliefs. The anti-Scientology movement would have just lost some credibility with me if I cared about anything they would have to say.

If she didn't agree (or allow herself to be bullied) to buy into and believe in her husband's beliefs, she would be according to scientology doctrine be labeled a PTS (potential trouble source). If Tom Cruise could not effectively "handle" her (annihilate her doubts), she would be labeled (per scientology doctrine/policy) an SP (suppressive person) and Tom Cruise would be forced to divorce her, just as he did with Nicole Kidman and thousands of rank and file scientologists are forced to disconnect from family and friends if those family and friends refuse to buy into the cult totally.

No, Katie would not be with Tom if she didn't buy into those beliefs--ergo, it is not about her husbands beliefs, it is about hers.

That sounds like the usual sexist religious dogma but expressed with scientific jargon. Why don't we boycott mormons then. Actually now that i think about...who even cares. forget all this nonsense

Seriously, what is the big deal with this issue? People think that Katie is brainwashed, hypnotized or whatever. Well, so are some other religious people. The fact is, the woman looks happy. She's probably laughing her ass off at people who say she is unhappy or has been forced into a situation that she doesn't want to be part of. The fact is that before she got married to Cruise, NOBODY really gave a damn about her or her celebrity persona. She was always quiet, kept to herself and other than her break up with Chris Klein, never made news in the gossip rags. That's cuz she's NORMAL!! She is the only celebrity mother who is seen almost daily with her child, taking her to parks or just behaving like a normal mother. Apart from being unbelievable beautiful, she is utterly classy, seems very kind, never lashes out or speaks badly about anyone. I'm exactly her age, and frankly I think she speaks quite well or our generation in comparison to the likes of all those other celebrity gits.

She seems nice, I hope they just picket outside...It would have to be a distraction to wonder if people are going to break into protest in the middle of your play!!!

I live in the Tampa Bay area and must say that the Scientologists I see on the street in Clearwater are an odd lot. They do not seem fully realized humans, which is what their philosophy preaches.

That said, please leave Katie Holmes alone. I am not her friend, nor do I have any affiliation with her. But if her parents have not been able to make headway with their concerns over her union with Tom Cruise, I seriously doubt ill-intentioned strangers will either.

We all make pretty stupid decisions when we are young, be they love or occupation or money oriented. At this point, I think that is all Katie is guilty of and she's in TONS of company.

Leave her alone. Let her make mistakes/good decisions and let her grow. That's what life is all about. Whether we agree with her choices or not.

It is easy to see where the hysterics go to post. I agree, that Katie has a right to choose her own way whether it be religion, atheism or Scientology. She doesn't seem like a prisoner to me. She appears to happily connect with her family.

I'm no fan of Scientology, but leave poor Katie alone! It's her life, and she can live it anyway she chooses.

To all those bent out of shape by my remarks, I will remain thinking that whether it is religion or cult matters, adults have a right to choose as does Holmes.

What of the adults who are held as virtual prisoners in forced labor camps (google scientology + RPF) in California and Florida?

What of the children who are abused--who are denied schooling while forced to work long long days performing menial labor? (google Jenna Miscavige and Astra Woodcraft or just go to www.ex-scientologykids.com).

What of the desperate addicts who are riipped off in the faux-addiction rehabilitation program Narconon.

And that is just the tip of the criminal scam abuse iceberg.

And other adults have the right to speak out and try to help someone who has gotten themselves into a bad situation and can't see the forest for the trees, as Ms. Holmes has done. Getting backed into a corner and caught up in a CULT is something that can happen to anyone, adult or not. There are very well-educated people who are stuck inside that cult and ones who've gotten out.

All it takes is the right amount of razzle-dazzle and anyone can be eating out of Co$'s filthy paw - especially the kind of people they love to prey on: vulnerable, insecure people who have lots of MONEY to burn in order to 'fix' whatever is wrong with them, whether that broken thing is real or something the Co$ lackey just made up.

Not everybody is all about 'make money, make more money' like the 'church'. Some people actually DO care about others and want them to be out of harm's way.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 02:35 PM on 09/02/2008

I'm no fan of this "church" but to me it's the same as any other so called religion. That said, exactly what gives you the right to say it's a bad situation? Who told you that you are so all-knowing you should tell others what is good or bad? It's people like you who knock on my door to sell me Jesus because that is what THEY believe to be good. Just keep your own councel and stop trying to "help"

From what I have read about how the rehearsals have gone, this play will not need any help in stopping its run. The previews are horrible.

"all religions are cults" ???

If you join a church, and then later decide you no longer want to be a member, you can quit. Not so in a cult like Scientology. They harass and intimidate.
