The McCain campaign, acting through the Republican National Committee, has been negotiating with Rep. Ron Paul to win his support and acquire the names of his sympathizers among the 4,607 delegates and alternates at the Republican National Convention, according to a senior aide to the Texas congressman.

The aim is to try to win support for the John McCain-Sarah Palin ticket from Paul sympathizers, some of whom formally committed to Mr. Paul during his campaign for the Republican presidential nomination and others of whom are closet sympathizers of his libertarian brand of Republicanism.

ha ha ha ha ha.

After how he has been treated...not even invited to the convention. I don't see that happening.

Don't do it Paul, don't sell your soul to the devil. You may be going out of this race but PLEASE go with your principals and integrity in tack, so you may live to fight another day.

Even though I disagree with Ron Paul 90% of the time I kind of like the guy.

Stay strong Mr. Paul. Don't give up your ethics nor your supporters!

I can't picture it.

Ron Paul, for better or worse, seems to believe in something and it isn't Republican style government.

Don't do it Ron. We may not agree on many subjects but your type of extremism is exactly the type of balance this system needs until it evolves beyond this two-party joke. At least we know your convictions and motivations ... or at least we thought we did.

After watching and listening to Ron Paul for the last decade or so, I can promise you that it will be a cold day in hell before Ron Paul changes or moderates any of his positions one iota for John Mccain.

On CNN this morning, Ron Paul disagreed with this story. He said they really hadn't made strong efforts. Any invitations extended allowed him only limited access to the convention with tight constraints.

Stay in the light, Ron.

If Mr. Paul has an ounce of integrity, he will not even consider this. Just look at how McCain and the others insulted and belittled Paul in the debates, not even allowing him to get a word in without derision. McCain led the charge.

If he sides with McCain, Paul is even a bigger phooey than even I believed he was.

How sad. I sort of admired Ron Paul for his principles, but... he's a Republican after all, and you can't count on the GOP to CAPITALIZE on an OPPORTUNITY. If there's one character flaw you can point to as typical of modern "conservatives" it's:

RECKLESS OPPORTUNISM.

Come on Ron, you know better. Don't do it. That team will destroy this country. Hold on to your delegates.
