I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Palin

Washington Independent:

Earlier today, First Lady Laura Bush urged us to remember Gov. Sarah Palin's record as mayor of her hometown from 1996-2002 when assessing her experience. I agree.

Driving around this city today, I decided it looks more or less like a string of strip malls, 45 minutes northeast of Anchorage. I couldn't help but think that being mayor of a place like this would be something akin to running a large neighborhood watch.

The main highway that runs through town is lined with new big-box stores, including a Target and a Wal-Mart. A handful of fast-food chains as well as some local restaurants also sprinkle the main drag. Breathtaking mountains, the peaks still lightly dusted with snow, create a striking backdrop. Despite the chain stores, this small city feels distant from the rest of the world. I'd have guessed Palin would have run the city with a "we're in this together" theme.

It turns out she had a somewhat different approach. If a small-town mayor ever ruled with an iron fist -- it was Palin. Eleven days after taking office in 1996, she mailed letters to each of the city's top managers requesting that they resign as a test of loyalty.

Do we know who was hired to replace these people. Friends or family members
of the Mayor?

The Bush loyalty oath resurfaces. Like robot Bush, robot Palin needs to feel secure and safe from the Liberal Devils who might be harboring copies of the Constitution.

I do not know who scares me more, Palin or McCain. The possibility that McCain will not beable to complete his first term because of mental impairment is very high, as well as his over all health related matters. Thus there is a strong potential that Palin would be the next president, that in its self is extreemly frightening and disheartening. This has nothing to do with gender, but the ability to lead this country. Being a city council member and a figure head mayor is NOT the kind political or executive experience that I would want to be the basis for saying she is qualified to lead. The fact that she co-owed a ski, snowmobile and atv business is does not qualify as CEO experience or any level of executive experience. If that were true, then I would be highly qualified (much more qualified than she is), and I know for a fact that I am not. It is not about gender, race or age that determines my vote, it is all about judgement, clear logical thinking, and what is good and best for America and these two, McCain and Palin are NOT GOOD FOR THIS COUNTRY, my opinion is they would do more harm than good.

I agree, Palin does not have any experience that qualifies her for the job of leading this country. But I think Ariana Huffington made a very good point... we are making a mistake by focusing on her experience. It is her archaic ideology that is the big problem.

Should that ever happen (Athena forbid), I am sure there would be an immediate recall of her, with many repubs coming in favor of recalling her.

I can't believe how Senator McCain is letting the world continue to laugh at us in Americe with this soap opera. He must be desparate to get President before his name.

-- 1996 Mayor Palin wanted the librarian to BAN BOOKS Palin deemed inappropriate. That's why she wanted to fire the librarian.. (she fits right in with Bush/McCain doctrine)

-- 1996 Fired Police Chief because she had a “gut feeling” he wouldn’t support her because he voted for her opponent. (she fits right in with Bush/McCain doctrine.)

-- 1996 Gag-order-gate: 1996 Mayor Palin told the department heads they needed HER permission to talk to reporters. She put a gag order on those people. (she fits right in with Bush/McCain doctrine.)

-- 2008 Trooper-gate: Fired Monegan because he won’t fire her ex-brother in law. (Bush/McCain doctrine)

-- 2008 John Bitney-gate: Palin fired Bitney because Bitney was dating the ex-wife of Palin’s husband’s good friend. (Bush/McCain doctrine) Bitney WAS Issues Coordinator during her successful gubernatorial campaign in 2006, later spokesman for her transition team after the election and on December 1, 2006 he was named her Legislative Liaison. - HE WAS FIRED THOUGH for dating her hubby's friend's ex-wife.

We can't let McCain get away with this "maverick" theme! Palin is a product of the Religious Right, and echoes the Bush regime as you point out. John McCain is no maverick, he is an absolute sell-out.

Ok, this is wrong. This is people's livelihoods and their families.

Forcing people to resign for no reason and then firing them when they refuse?

Actually, it is the law in Wasilla.

The librarian and police chief serve at the pleasure of the mayor. Period.
The court sided with Palin on this.

Good analogy - "furess". This is how she needs to be perceived, painted, and presented to the public.

Yes, she would. Her insistence--as an _elected_public_servant_ on a "loyalty [to her] oath" is reason enough and alone to disqualify her.

Some are predicting we'll all have to renounce our US citizenship and pass a "loyalty test" to get back into the club.

She'll also dismantle the Democratic Party and run all the gays & lesbians out of the country.
