In a Washington Post interview, Karl Rove admits that the Sarah Palin pick was "not a governing decision but a campaign decision." Of course, he says Joe Biden was too.

They (Democrats) over played this from the first moment. When they put out that statement bashing her. This is everyone. This is mom, the successful small business operator, union member, outdoors woman, coach, mom of five, active in her community and takes on the big boys and becomes Governor. And they run a real risk of looking condescending, just as they did, the same crowd played these cards against Hillary Clinton, and it was a mistake.

...

This is a positive thing for McCain. It's a bold move, but it's also a smart political move. Now, it's a different kind of decision. ... Both candidates this year, ironically enough made not a governing decision but a campaign decision.

Watch the whole interview:

I suggest, Karl Antichrist Rove, that you not mention the experienced, well-educated, FULLY VETTED Hillary Clinton in the same paragraph as your woeful VP choice.

Rove: Palin A "Campaign Decision" Not "Governing Decision"

Hows that again, Rove? Uhhh I thought this was about choosing a team to run the country, now you tell me it is not that? I mean if it is not a governing decision, why is John even competing then?

Why Sarah Palin? Why Not Condi Rice? I don't agree with Rice but she would be more comfort than Palin.

JUST BECAUSE her kid is having a kid or she has a baby with special needs or even that she knows how to field dress a Moose, doesn't make her unfit for the office. DO NOT ATTACK! This has been stated by Barack Obama, Joe Biden and everyone else who has a stake in this election. DO NOT ATTACK!! Keep your obscene comments to yourselves. Laugh if you must at the irony and the hypocrisy but DO NOT ATTACK! I Believe that there will be PLENTY OF RED MEAT FOR US to FEAST on during the next couple of months but DON'T POKE THE BEAR!! Since your Party was responsible for the dismemberment of America, your last refuge is patriotism and cult of personality. Discussion of any issue diminishes you. Always attack the character and patiotism of your opponent. Never discuss the future of the Republic except in terms of threats and America First. Pray publicly. Make clear that the good Lord is on the side of corruption and incompetence wrapped in the whole cloth of the American flag (not its constitution).
The Republican Party has become a corrupt ideology and cult of family dynasty with members no longer willing to follow.

McCain and Newt are sexists, they both have called palin mccains soul mate. Would they say that about Romney, lieberman, pawlenty. The true sexists are the republicans. They think any female can fill hillarys shoes. Tell them no, I won't fall for the bait. I am smarter than that. Sara Palin you are no hillary clinton.

Wait - how is Biden not a "governing" decision? wtf?

Also, "the same crowd played these cards against Hillary Clinton, and it was a mistake." Ummm, NO ONE ever suggested Hillary Clinton wasn't qualified to be president, that she was a hack and a fringe-lunatic whose candidacy was a joke. This is the difference between Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin. No one is suggesting Sarah Palin shouldn't be veep because she's a woman; they're suggesting she shouldn't be veep because she is in no way prepared to lead this country. To suggest that we should support her for the job when she isn't qualified - THAT is condescending. To suggest that a woman in high office couldn't be expected to actually be familiar with the issues - THAT is sexist. And to expect female voters to rally around someone whose core beliefs are an anathema to them, because they're just so tickled to have a woman on the ticket - THAT is UNBELIEVABLY misogynistic.

These comments are better than the Daily Show and Steven Colbert. I'm laughing so hard, I'm in tears -- because there's a lot of truth out there, and I fear the American People are like sheep making their way blissfully to the slaughterhouse. Political ignorance is bliss. Between Rove's breathtaking cyncism and the Stepford wives/RoboCop-spokespeople for McCain who spout the same nonsense over and over again with a straight face, it's enough to make ya wanna holler.

Prayers for the nation are welcome. God Bless America. Is that Joe Lieberman I hear delivering a silly speech at the convention -- Be still my heart.
