The founder of the Alaska Independence Party -- a group that has been courted over the years by Sarah Palin, and one her husband was a member of for roughly seven years -- once professed his "hatred for the American government" and cursed the American flag as a "damn flag."

The AIP founder, Joe Vogler, made the comments in 1991, in an interview that's now housed at the Oral History Program in the Rasmuson Library at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks.

"The fires of hell are frozen glaciers compared to my hatred for the American government," Vogler said in the interview, in which he talked extensively about his desire for Alaskan secession, the key goal of the AIP.

Well, her husband is half Inuit, right? They're Natives. So they probably got the short end in Alaska's move to statehood and Todd might be interested in doing something to advance their interests. SP has probably been trying to figure out some ameliatory move. Or just pretending to be concerned about their issues more likely.

She's pretty hard core. She doesn't care about unwed teen mothers -- except her own. I don't really think she cares about the AIP or the Inuits. They have been concerned about environmental issues in Alaska -- such as global warming and mining. But Repubs don't let those things trump money. SP chooses not to believe that global warming is man made. What do all of those scientists know?

And just because the founder of that party holds a certain view doesn't mean that Todd Palin does too. The Democratic Party was the party of segregation until the 1960s. Where is the story that reveals that Joe Biden is a member of a party that supported segregation and was against civil rights?

The Palins didn't ' let ' the son enlist ,the son is of legal age .The Palins have no time for the children ,that's been shown by the daughters unwise teen pregnancy .Put YOUR party affiliation aside and think with a non-political mind instead of a Republican mind.A small special needs INFANT was USED as a PROP at the convention !The noise level is VERY VERY loud at these rallys,I didn't see EAR protection on the infant ,Cindy McCain is a avid NSCAR fan,she KNOWS how important EAR protection is ,in fact there was a picture of HER wearing EAR protection at one of her photo ops at a races !! While I agree that Palin's daughter should be off limits, I would hit them hard over this issue. Her husband is a member of a party that advocates succession and Palin has been seen to be involved in AIP functions, if not an actual member. To advocate succession could be considered treason and definitely not putting country first!

Vice Chairman of AIP disagrees. He clearly states at recent convention Palin was a member before runnning for mayor, and then goes on to say how it is important to infiltrate the major political parties.

according to AIP's Lynette Clark still insists that the governor was a member. "This is like a cat covering up crap in its litter box," she said.

Some people are afraid of the governor's Cheney streak.... she wanted the Librarian fired, she fired the Public Safety Commissioner. She is Bush/Cheney/Hagee all rolled into one.
