Alaska Independence Party Founder Broadcast Hatred Of America

The founder of the Alaska Independence Party -- a group that has been courted over the years by Sarah Palin, and one her husband was a member of for roughly seven years -- once professed his "hatred for the American government" and cursed the American flag as a "damn flag."

The AIP founder, Joe Vogler, made the comments in 1991, in an interview that's now housed at the Oral History Program in the Rasmuson Library at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks.

"The fires of hell are frozen glaciers compared to my hatred for the American government," Vogler said in the interview, in which he talked extensively about his desire for Alaskan secession, the key goal of the AIP.

OK, let's assume that Sarah Palin was not a member of the AIP as the State of Alaska says. They did confirmed however that her husband has been a member. Now, remember Michelle Obama's little remark about being proud of America for the first time? All hell broke loose in the MSM. Well, here is a spouse that belonged to an organization that wants to not only secure independence of Alaska from the United States but also dissolve the federal government. Yes, you read that right. This is not a an off the cuff remark, this is joining an active organization to achieve these goals. This is not just unpatriotic but traitorous. Although she may not have technically joined, does she hold these same beliefs? A number of individuals confirm her presence at the 1994 AIP Convention. As governor, she also sent a video greeting to this year's AIP convention. Should something happen to McCain and she becomes the president, her closest advisor, her husband, would hold these radical, anti-American beliefs and she may as well. This is very scary people.

Calling for the dissolution of the government in and of itself is not traitorous. We do have freedom of speech here. Putting those words into actions is when the traitor line is crossed.

I thought I read somewhere a few days ago that she spoke at the 1994 convention because it was in the town where she was mayor, but I could be mistaken.

In any event, what is the big deal if an elected official (Governor), chooses to address a section of the Alaskan community? I thought our elected officials are supposed to represent everyone. San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders addressed the girl scouts at the "Operation Thin Mint" send off that I took my daughter's troop to in May. Does this now make him a girl scout? And don't try to take this out to some illogical extreme- she is not speaking to NAMBLA or the KKK or something.

And why should it be an issue if her husband was a member? He is an adult who is free to affiliate with anyone he chooses to. I do recall that when Michelle Obama was linked to the hospital board that had an active practice of directing non-insured patients away from the facility, it was conisdered an attack to bring it up and it did not reflect Obama's viewpoints, which it does not.

If Michelle Obama had belonged to a group that called to dissolve the US federal government and for Illinois to become a separate entity from the US, do you really think it would NOT be discussed by the RNC and the MSM? This goes right to the heart of someone's love of country. And with her being a heart beat away from the presidency, it is a fair question as to whether she shares these same views.
