Obama Olbermann

Just days after he appears on "The O'Reilly Factor," Barack Obama will sit down with O'Reilly enemy Keith Olbermann on "Countdown." On Monday, September 8, Obama will help MSNBC kick off the homestretch of the political season by appearing on its marquee show. That same night, "The Rachel Maddow Show" will debut in the 9 p.m. hour.

Obama is set to appear on Fox News' "O'Reilly Factor" Thursday for the first time. Earlier this week, news broke of Obama's secret meeting with News Corp chief Rupert Murdoch and Fox News overlord Roger Ailes, a meeting in which they reportedly brokered a truce but during which Ailes made clear to Obama that Fox News would not be "in the tank" for him.

Place the softballs on the Tee....

Sarah Palin is the political equivalent of the sports fan whose favorite team is the one who just claimed the title. She is incapable of understanding the plight of a Cubs fan because she's too busy buying Red Sox merchandise. Nobody will take Sarah seriously until she reaches into her closet and pulls out that Cubs jersey...

It would really be great to see Keith Olbermann as President Obama's Press Secretary for the next 8 years. If not him, then who else but Rachel Maddow? At least this would be the first time in a while that a professional ' other than the previous Fox News gentleman who passed away, has held the position. The present press secretary for Bush is a joke.

The "gentleman who passed away" was Tony Snow, a capable journalist but his voice quality was terrible. He always sounded as if he were crying -- as well he might have been as a mouthpiece for George W. Bush. Antoher guy whose voice is a total turn-off regardless of your politics is Pat Buchanan who's at his worst (vocally) when he gets to shouting. Voice quality counts! Sarah Palin's is a puzzlement. More wicked and vicious than that flat Fargo, little-girl voice suggests. It's her secret weapon! WATCH OUT!

I';m a relative newbie to Olbermann and Maddow. Saw Dr. Maddow when Olbermann was out of town awhile back. I think she is the best. What would be great is if BO is on Olbermann's countdown and then stays around for Dr. Maddow. That'd be a night to bring out the popcorn and sit and watch.

This will be good to see Barack Obama and Keith Olbermann at 8PM... How about Dr Maddow and Palin at 9PM, for her opening show? Mind over Moose!

Way to go Barack. While John McMock is running from the media and S. Surrogate is not ready for prime time run the gambit and force them to put her out before she is ready. Run Barack Run.

Just watched Barack on BillO.

KEITH IS WRONG - BillO IS NOT A CLOWN.

He is just your garden variety Narcissistic jerk in love with his inflated sense of his intellect and sound of his voice. He would not let Obama finish a sentence and was arrogant and dismissive. Any ordinary person would have either walked away from him or punched him in the jaw. I was impressed by how Obama maintained his cool and would not let BillO get away with his garbage.

My mind flashed to what would have happened if a reporter interviewed McCain in this same manner. First, McCain would have either sulked like a baby (see what happened in the Time Interview or numerous other occassions) or shouted and screamed. Then his people would start WHINING about how the media is being "unfair" to them, ban the associated network & reporter, and run the story line as long as they could.

KEITH - YOU OWE CLOWNS EVERYWHERE AN APOLOGY FOR COMPARING THEM TO BILLO.

Obama handled himself well as I thought he would.

You know, the descripton you gave fits Keith too.

I will admit that Keith pushes hard, but I think he would treat McC in a much more approriate manner if he were to interview him.

Not that McC will ever have the courage to venture onto MSNBC to speak to Keith.

Chris Mathews is much more like Billo--in terms of inflated ego and tromping on what his invited guests have to say--although he is certainly more likeable and "fair" than Billo.
Keith, while not lacking in ego, has a tremendous intellect, fantastic sense of humor, and a laser-like wit (not half a wit) unlike the other two.

Yeah, I was kind of worried (for a moment), but Barack came prepped to deal with that arrogant prick...and deal with him he did!

OMG.

I just watched 0bama on Billo's show, which I have never seen before. Now I see what Keith is talking about when he dubs him the 'worst person in the wooooorld'. Wouldn't it be nice if he would allow anyone - including his own commentators - to finish a sentence? 0bama answered his questions as completely as he could with the 5 words he was allowed, and now they're picking all of his answers to pieces. What a flaming jerk. I will not be watching the remaining installments next week.

You've got a much stronger stomach than I do... I could only watch the interview - then I went to hurl.

As much as they complain about Keith O, at least I would expect him to deal w/ JM in a civil & appropriate manner. Same for Rachel, Arianna, Matthews etc. etc. etc.

every one knows what a jerk o'rielly is but it was good that Obama went and he held his own.

It was good. I will be watching.

O'Really's zombies will never, ever vote for Obama anyway, so there was no point in letting the candidate complete a sentence. Like the dry-Humpback Mountain Fun'd'mentalist Fest a few weeks back, this was an utter waste of Obama's time.

I think he went on the Spin Like a Top Zone just to keep Bill from saying Obama would not come on his show. On the other hand we have John "the big hero" McCain chickening out from old Larry King, so by contrast, Barack wins that one going away. On another note, as much as I like seeing Barack, I did not watch him on Bill's shows. I can't stomach Orielly. The man is insane. I'll watch him on Countdown.

watched o'reilly, finally some specificity. he's sharp. mccain is rhetoric.

WHY, can't mccain admit he was wrong for going in there to begin with if obama can discuss the surge???
