I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Cindy

In a one-one-one interview with CBS' Katie Couric, Cindy McCain says she disagrees with Sarah Palin on abortion:

COURIC: Some, even Republicans seem surprised that Senator McCain picked a running mate who opposes abortion even in-- in the cases of rape and incest and believes creationism should be taught in schools. And I'm just curious, do you believe--or do you agree with that?

MCCAIN: What I agree with is the fact that she is a social conservative, she is a reform minded woman, she is someone that will shake the-- the-- Washington up, which is exactly what we wanna do. We differ on many issues, we differ with-- across the board with people. We don't have to agree on every issue.

COURIC: Abortion has suddenly become, again, a hot button issue, because of her--

MCCAIN: I think to you all it has--

COURIC: Well, I think probably, at least, it's reported that a lot of people are now talking about this. And I-- where do you stand on abortion?

MCCAIN: I'm pro-life, I'm on the record as being pro-life, like my husband.

COURIC: So, do you oppose it even in the cases of rape and incest?

MCCAIN: No.

COURIC: No? So, that's where you two differ--

MCCAIN: Uh-huh (AFFIRM).

The only problem I have with Gov. Palin is her view on rape and incest. I don't get it ? why would you want a relationship with your rapist for rest of your life? This child, even if you put it out for adoption will seek you out and always remind you of the rape. This was an invasion and there is no right for the fetus to be born. I believe this view may hurt her. It goes over the line of rational belief. Although, if you believe this for yourself, then go right ahead but don't impose it on others.

I think Ci ndy needs to drink beer more and talk less. She should explain why John called
her a c** t. How disgraceful

It's just another tactic. Cindy's supposedly unscripted "admission" is supposed to be a wink-wink to conservatives who uphold the conservative disinclination for government interference in regular folks' business--in this case, in abortion matters. It's as if she is communicating to votes, "Sure, Palin says she's hardline, but I'm the wife of the head of this ticket and I'll rein him in before he gets too adamantly pro-life."
Not buying it.

Signed, Church-going, family-valuing Christian NOT voting for McCain

Well if she believes a zygote is a life, then why is it the fetus' fault if the mother was raped. At least Palin and the religious right is consistent in their stance.

But I'm really impressed to see that Cindy McCain has an opinion on something.

I can't believe I am saying this, but I agree with Cindy McCain regarding rape and incest. Thank you Cindy!

I can't believe you or anyone in their right mind would say that they agree with Cindy McCain regarding rape and incest.

LOL.

I think when "rape and incest," "I agree," and "thank you cindy" are all used in the same sentence, something is seriously ****** up.

Who cares what Mrs. McCain thinks about any policy -- she's not going to influence any decisions? If anyone thinks so, they're delusional.

Nice to know she isn't completely batsh1t crazy though -- at least opposes it in cases of rape or incest.

If something happens to McCain, it will be Palin that is President, not Cindy, although perhaps they are equally qualified.

This race is seriously heating up. This may be just me but this election is sounding like its going to be about Obama and Palin. McCain has barely been visible since the announcement of Palin as VP, even withdrawing from an interview with CNN due to questions about Palin's vetting. The Republican base though has been more motivated in the last six days than in the previous six months.

I teach foreign language at college level. Today we were talking about adjectives and the examples in the book are "political, liberal, conservative, progressive, tolerant," etc. I have to say that within this very small, but typical college-age group, the attitude has really shifted from just a few years ago toward the center left. The new center is definitely on the more progressive side, and looking at these young people, I am glad that the pendulum has finally swung.

Here they go again. It's the Obama supporter FASHION POLICE!

It's a good thing CM doesn't favor pant suits, but then again we can't always wear dresses like Michele Obama that makes her look like she just stepped off of the Star Trek space ship.

How's that for being a FASHION POLICE.

Every woman should have the right to choose her own destiny! This is a decision between her and her doctor - not by the religious zealots trying to take over the country! Cindy is not very articulate, is she?
