Cindy McCain Says She Disagrees With Palin On Abortion

In a one-one-one interview with CBS' Katie Couric, Cindy McCain says she disagrees with Sarah Palin on abortion:

COURIC: Some, even Republicans seem surprised that Senator McCain picked a running mate who opposes abortion even in-- in the cases of rape and incest and believes creationism should be taught in schools. And I'm just curious, do you believe--or do you agree with that?

MCCAIN: What I agree with is the fact that she is a social conservative, she is a reform minded woman, she is someone that will shake the-- the-- Washington up, which is exactly what we wanna do. We differ on many issues, we differ with-- across the board with people. We don't have to agree on every issue.

COURIC: Abortion has suddenly become, again, a hot button issue, because of her--

MCCAIN: I think to you all it has--

COURIC: Well, I think probably, at least, it's reported that a lot of people are now talking about this. And I-- where do you stand on abortion?

MCCAIN: I'm pro-life, I'm on the record as being pro-life, like my husband.

COURIC: So, do you oppose it even in the cases of rape and incest?

MCCAIN: No.

COURIC: No? So, that's where you two differ--

MCCAIN: Uh-huh (AFFIRM).

This is also a disagreement with the platform of the Republican party, which calls for a complete ban on abortion even in cases of rape, incest, AND danger to the mother's life.

There was another link where someone wondered why Evangelicals are so narrow mined on this one issue. In the Pro-lifer's mind, it is murder.(I have relatives who are heads of pro-life, until recently they use to put my name in the paper without my consent on the year anniversary of Roe v Wade- but I digress.)

As I was painfully watching the convention last night, the story of the soldier going above and beyond by laying down his life on a grenade, it was clear he was seen by everyone in that hall as a hero. But those people in that hall wouldn't advocate mandatory blood donation, bone marrow registry, or organ donation. The people in that hall don't care if innocent people are put to death in our jails. They don't care if corporate welfare steals money from mouths of Americans.

The problem is they can only see one thing at a time. There are not two people, one risking their life for another.

Huffpo is unkind to every candidate except Obama. Put in no pictures of Hillary except bad-looking ones until Hillary conceded to Obama. Put in a pic of Mrs. Huckabee which made her look twice her real width, after Huck won iowa. Now bashing McPalin and her family, even though saintly Barack says do not do it.

I was once a journalist back in the ancient times, and such vulgarity would have gotten me fired. I would never have thought of beinig so vulgar whether or not I was fired.

I share your concern for civility but how does this cross the line? And I must say Sarah Palin is no victim, she is a volunteer here. Her judgment, honesty, worldview and record were all given a backseat by her and McCain in their desire to make her family the issue. Now it's their hope to take everything about her off the table and go back to attacking Obama.

Does Sarah PALIN plan to have more kids even after she just delivered a child who has Down Syndrome ? A condition generally affiliated with mothers giving birth to children in their mid-forties.

Since she does not believe in contraception or birth control or abstinence education for teens or abortion rights for women -- it is really difficult to take this person seriously.

1. That Bristol became pregnant, was seen at the time by friends as pregnant, but then had an abortion. How to explain & deal with that? Sarah gets pg actually gives birth to Trigg and the quiet rumors are its Bristol's baby (which it isn't).

3. That Bristol became pregnant, decided to keep baby but true father was a technical statutory rapist (18 or >). Again, how to explain & deal with Bristol's PG status? Sarah fakes a pg and claims Trigg as her own child.

4. That Bristol became pregnant, decided to keep baby and Sarah faked a pregnancy to prevent scandal of teenage pregnancy out of wedlock.

5. That Sarah alone was pregnant (odd so early in office) w/ Trigg and that after his birth Bristol became pregnant (with Levi as father). This is the public scenario but lacks any tangible/incontrovertible proof at this point as to whether Gov. Palin was the mother (or not).

No. 4 needs to be disproven.
