Cindy

In a one-one-one interview with CBS' Katie Couric, Cindy McCain says she disagrees with Sarah Palin on abortion:

COURIC: Some, even Republicans seem surprised that Senator McCain picked a running mate who opposes abortion even in-- in the cases of rape and incest and believes creationism should be taught in schools. And I'm just curious, do you believe--or do you agree with that?

MCCAIN: What I agree with is the fact that she is a social conservative, she is a reform minded woman, she is someone that will shake the-- the-- Washington up, which is exactly what we wanna do. We differ on many issues, we differ with-- across the board with people. We don't have to agree on every issue.

COURIC: Abortion has suddenly become, again, a hot button issue, because of her--

MCCAIN: I think to you all it has--

COURIC: Well, I think probably, at least, it's reported that a lot of people are now talking about this. And I-- where do you stand on abortion?

MCCAIN: I'm pro-life, I'm on the record as being pro-life, like my husband.

COURIC: So, do you oppose it even in the cases of rape and incest?

MCCAIN: No.

COURIC: No? So, that's where you two differ--

MCCAIN: Uh-huh (AFFIRM).

I wonder if Cindy and John ever discuss the thousands of families trapped in polygamy in Colorado City, Arizona. Yes, the FLDS is thriving in Arizona, and in the past 26 years as senator for Arizona John McCain hasn't lifted a finger to clean it up. Oh ye hypocrites!!!

I'm voting for Obama!

I wish Couric had asked about the wisdom of overturning Roe v. Wade. After all, hubbie has said he favors appointing Supreme Court Justices along the line of Thomas and Scalia.

Well, nobody is voting for Cindy. She's just buying the spot for her husband. So, she can just go sit down quitely and wait to see what happens. Laura B tried this sometimes, and it is meaningless.

There is nothing wrong with Cindy McCain. I am a total supporter of Obama/Biden and I think some of the attacks on Cindy are over the top. She is a private citizen just like Michelle Obama who happens to have a spouse running for president. Palin on the other hand is fair game (no pun intended) because she is running for office and I think she is woefully inadequate to be VP......

Exactly! Palin and McCain's opinions and policies are important.

I agree with you in part! That part being a "private citizen" ought to be considered. However, when you are campaigning for your spouse and you bash and over-blow another candidate's spouse for speaks that are not attributable to the issues, you become fair game and just as open to that same scrutinyl!! Especially if "your" house is not clean!!

McCain with his usual bad, kneejerk judgment has allowed America less than 60 days to get to know this VP pick!! The republican delegates at their convention would have people believe that they have had enough time to support this VP .... though there is much controversy surrounding Sarah, even an on-going ethics investigation!! A woman's right to her own body should never be a political ploy ... Roe is well-settled law ... women of sound minds need to remember how crucial it is to have a president in office who will obey the law ... even Roe and will not attempt to overturn that law by stacking the highest court of the land with right-wing, dictating extremists!!

Just another old republican trick. When George Bush, Sr. sold his soul to the fetus fetishists, Barbara would make the rounds whispering that she was for abortion. If I'm not mistaken, Laura did the same thing. So, I suppose we're all to assume that when they dispense pillow talk to their unprincipled mates, there are foreceps under her pillow just in case THEIR kid needs a quick procedure.

I thought so too because they know the candidates' spouse's opinions are not counted so they are free to whisper to mislead voters that the candidates are on their side.

Alright Katie,
Something has come over Katie Couric, she is acting like a GENIIUNE Reporter. last night while watching the RNC, she actually held her ground and made Steve Schmidt and Lindsay Graham admit that Palin had secured earmarks before she decided to reject them.......they begrudgingly agreed and then went on to state that Palins experience outdoes Obama's and Katie says. "well, that is a talking point!!!!!!!!"

She is AWAKE and reporting WATCH and LEARN, maybe the others will see they can too!!!.........Just in time, a thousand thanks........YES!!!!!!!!

Wow! What a revelation, what a "huge" difference between the two!!! LOL

Oh the exasperated far left loonies!!! They cannot digest the fact that a woman has more governing experience than their fluffed up wonder boy Obama! The poor fella inspected manholes, voted present as a PART-TIME Senator of IL and then wrote a few books creating all the hot air and hoopla that is the premise of his candidacy ...

Now the Republican bottom-of-the-ticket has more experience than the Dem top-of-the-ticket!!!

Meanwhile Obama's record on abortion is extreme. He opposed the ban on partial-birth abortion -- a practice a fellow Democrat, the late Daniel Patrick Moynihan, once called "too close to infanticide." Obama strongly criticized the Supreme Court decision upholding the partial-birth ban. In the Illinois state Senate, he opposed a bill similar to the Born-Alive Infants Protection Act, which prevents the killing of infants mistakenly left alive by abortion. And now Obama has oddly claimed that he would not want his daughters to be "punished with a baby" because of a crisis pregnancy -- hardly a welcoming attitude toward new life

Plus all these things are above the fella's "pay grade" actually ...

The bill you are talking about was redundant. Protection of Born Alive infants was already covered under other Illinois laws and the bill that they tried to pass had other things in it that's why Obama voted against it.
He opposed the partial birth abortion ban because it failed to include provisions to protect the life of the mother. If a doctor deemed that form of late term abortion would save a woman's life would you not want him to do it? and keep in mind that if the mom dies, the baby dies too.

Do you know what Obama meant when he said that knowing when life began was "above his pay grade"? He was talking about God. He was saying that we are not able to know when life begins, that only God knows that.

The QUESTION had to do with when, in Obama's opinion, at what point does a fetus have rights as a citizen.

Obama's answer, referring to whether you're talking about a "theological perspective or scientific perspective," is above his "pay grade." To me, that means he is neither a theologian nor a scientist and that that is an answer for GOD TO DECIDE, not mere mortals who believe their God is the ONLY God and only THEIR religious beliefs should be legislated and forced on the rest of America. Unfortunately, this is what Sarah Palin believes, as well.

According to the Constitution (assuming there still IS one), a "citizen" (someone who receives rights and protection from such things as "murder") is any PERSON who is BORN or naturalized in the United States. It doesn't mention embryos or fetuses.

The "human rights" answer, from a constitutional perspective, seems pretty clear to me. We need to follow the Constitution here, not the Bible and a particular group's interpretation of it. We are quickly becoming a theocracy, and Palin is the most blatant example of this to date.

Vote to retain the rights that liberal women fought for all these years before one Republican woman shoots them down like a moose.

When you bed down with extremists like Palin, you, like it or not Cindy, become an extremist. Perhaps John should have considered that before he, or his GOP handlers, picked Palin. While she energizes the base, Palin alienates the center, and that's where your hubby's election lies. Guess you'll have to make do with seven houses.

This stuff is scary! I just saw a preacher on TV say that because Sarah was a good Chirstian she was a good choice for John McCain.

It doesn't seem to matter that she left Wasilla $2 million dollars in debt, that she was for the Bridge to No Where before she was against it, btw she still kept the funding for it even though it was never completed, that she is under investigation for misuse of power, and fired both her police chief and the librarian in Wasilla for "not supporting her". Plus, she has only been governor for 18 months. She is woefully unqualified.

Another big issue to me is her husband Todd. It has been rumored that he was copied on private government emails and has sat in on governmental meetings. Is this guy going to have an influence on her when she is VP? What if she becomes President? Todd Palin has less education than most of us posting on Huffington Post. Do we really want him influencing the next President? When Hillary was running for President, everyone seemed upset that it would be a co-Presidency. At least Bill is qualifed for the position. I am really scared for the future of this country!

Sarah can't govern her own family let alone this country. Putting your head in the sand and ignoring the fact that kids need education is appalling! Under their "view" on when life begins then men are killing thousands of "babies' everytime they jerk off! I mean really..forget fearing those that want to "kill" us from abroad...fear this religious right, they are worse than used car salesmen trying to sell us this garbage (no offense to used car salesmen)

What would the evangelicals do if one of their daughters the victim of rape or incest, probably visit overseas and solve the problem maybe. Palin is so self rightious in her views, what right has she got to decide for other women ,this is where sexism comes in. if she were open minded and concerned about everyones rights, and qualified, gender wouldnt come into it. There wouldnt be a woman on the planet who would opt for abortion if it wasnt the only option. The repubs are using the sexism charge to excuse Mc cains questionable choice, Mrs Palin cant govern Alaska without problems, please think before you give her the keys to America.

Great post! And although I agree that kids should be off limits, her daughter's pregnancy is a perfect example of how at least one of her "policies" has failed miserably right under her own roof.
She wants creationism taught in schools and advocates abstinence and is against birth control, as well.
Well, Sarah, how's that abstinence thing working out for ya?

Anti-Jewish Terror is "God's Judgment"
02 Sep 2008 11:14 pm

Yes, Sarah Palin sat in a church where this message was given. Two weeks ago. The karma in all this is just amazing:

Brickner also described terrorist attacks on Israelis as God's "judgment of unbelief" of Jews who haven't embraced Christianity.

"Judgment is very real and we see it played out on the pages of the newspapers and on the television. It's very real. When [Brickner's son] was in Jerusalem he was there to witness some of that judgment, some of that conflict, when a Palestinian from East Jerusalem took a bulldozer and went plowing through a score of cars, killing numbers of people. Judgment — you can't miss it."

Palin was in church that day, Kroon said, though he cautioned against attributing Brickner’s views to her.
How does Hannity deal with this? After what he said about Jeremiah Wright?
