Cindy McCain Says She Disagrees With Palin On Abortion

In a one-one-one interview with CBS' Katie Couric, Cindy McCain says she disagrees with Sarah Palin on abortion:

COURIC: Some, even Republicans seem surprised that Senator McCain picked a running mate who opposes abortion even in-- in the cases of rape and incest and believes creationism should be taught in schools. And I'm just curious, do you believe--or do you agree with that?

MCCAIN: What I agree with is the fact that she is a social conservative, she is a reform minded woman, she is someone that will shake the-- the-- Washington up, which is exactly what we wanna do. We differ on many issues, we differ with-- across the board with people. We don't have to agree on every issue.

COURIC: Abortion has suddenly become, again, a hot button issue, because of her--

MCCAIN: I think to you all it has--

COURIC: Well, I think probably, at least, it's reported that a lot of people are now talking about this. And I-- where do you stand on abortion?

MCCAIN: I'm pro-life, I'm on the record as being pro-life, like my husband.

COURIC: So, do you oppose it even in the cases of rape and incest?

MCCAIN: No.

COURIC: No? So, that's where you two differ--

MCCAIN: Uh-huh (AFFIRM).

The Republicans live in a world of their own - just look at that Convention - I haven't seen so much white since the blizzard of '96. They reinforce each other's delusions, and one of those delusions is that God makes babies, every one must be protected, no matter what the mother wants, or how deformed or sick that embryo is, or whether the mother was raped or abused by a relative, or if the mother is a child herself . There's no use trying to reason with these people. 80% of the Republican delegates think Bush has done a great job ! Right there you know these people are crazy ! They'll say things are bad, and John McCain is the ANSWER - but they won't say why - AFTER 7-1/2 years of TOTAL REPUBLICAN RULE. The most disturbing thing about the Republicans is their militarism - WAR WAR WAR, military this, military that, best bravest military in the world - not once is there any question of WHY - it's all GUTS and GLORY. I'm sorry, but the Viet Nam war was a terrible blunder, and 58,000 men died for nothing. Iraq is a terrible blunder, and 4,152 men and women are forever lost for nothing - these Republicans will NEVER see the truth. It's blasphemy to question their leaders, who are proven liars and draft dodgers !!! But this is the Republican world.

Someone needs to ask Palin if she overturned Roe v. Wade (which she has stated she would do), what would she do if a young girl was arrested for trying to get a backdoor abortion? Is Palin naive enough to think that abortions would just go away? Would she have pregnant women arrested for seeking abortions? Is it a felony? Misdemeanor? Since her "abstinence" answer doesn't seem to be working in her home, and she's against birth control, and outlawing sex is too crazy even for her, then what is her answer to controlling women who still seek an abortion when she outlaws it?

I'm not seeing much of a difference between McCain's idea of abortion is ok in the case of rape or incest vs. abortion is ok - period. Wouldn't every woman that wanted an abortion just indicate that she was raped or a victim of incest to get an abortion peformed? It's sort of like the 'don't ask-don't tell' policy, but in the McCain's case you just tell the medical staff the circumstance they need to hear for them to perform the abortion??

Furthermore, if the ethical position is that the fertilized egg and beyond are a unique human lives with full rights and the mother is legally obliged to carry it to term, than the circumstances of it's formation are irrelevant. "It" would have the right to stay alive no matter how it came to be or who the daddy was. - same for invitro "snowflake" babies by the way. What if we froze new born baby multiples (identical twins and beyond) indefinitely because they were more than we needed?

When it comes to anti-abortion on the right to life, It's all or nothing, "baby."
