The Hill:

Sen. Joe Lieberman's speech Tuesday night at the Republican National Convention may have been the last straw for his fellow Senate Democrats.

The longtime Democrat-turned-Independent senator, who still caucuses with Democrats and chairs the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, may soon see one or both of those privileges revoked, said a spokesman for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.).

Lieberman gave a primetime speech Tuesday that repeatedly criticized Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama (Ill.). Lieberman, the 2000 Democratic vice presidential candidate, is a top supporter of Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.).

Lieberman actually said that Obama hasn't taken on Democratic interest groups? How about refusing PAC money and getting the DNC to do the same? How about drawing the ire of netroots groups by asking that contributions go to him and not independent groups?

he's hedging his bets. if Obama wins he's a goner...he knows it and he trying to build goodwill with Republicans so he can swith to their party after Obama wins. He wouldn't have become an Independent if he hadn't lost to Ned Lamont in the primary. if McCain wins then he knows McCain will hook him up with a job in the cabinet.

want to bet they won't do it until after the Nov elections. Otherwise, they lose their majority status. Empty threat.
