Huckabee Slags Media In Off-Script Remarks

Mike Huckabee took a little off-script rhetorical trip to get in a jab at the political media tonight in St. Paul, saying:

I would like to thank the elite media for doing something that, quite frankly, I wasn't sure could be done. That's unifying the Republican party and all of America in support of Senator McCain and Governor Palin! The reporting for the past few days have proven tackier than a costume change at a Madonna concert.

Tacky coverage, eh? Yeah, I'll tell you, the word "tacky" came to mind this afternoon when I saw that they had flown Levi Johnston all the way out to Minnesota so that the cameras could capture him receiving Maverick's blessing. But that's Mike Huckabee, always the ironist.

She can give a good speech that was written by someone else off a teleprompter - but dig a little deeper and I fear she would be stumped. She might be a good secretary of the interior - but VP? I'm not one to agree with Huckabee often but he is right on on this. Palin has been personally attacked and her family has been attacked like no other candidate ever has. She's tough.

Yes, of course. Obama's family was never attacked. His family's religion and church was never attacked. His WIFE was never attacked. His PATRIOTISM was never attacked. Unmercifully. Palin hasn't been on the SCENE long enough to have been attacked to the extent that Obama and his family have.

I think that's the measure of a real man! Obama didn't stomp around and attempt to censor the press/media when under scrutiny from the right-wing journalists.

He didn't refuse questions or whine when he was questioned on his spiritual beliefs, his background, his stand on the real issues.

If McCain is too shaky to and uncomfortable with the political positions he has taken(it changes every few months)then he is not fit to be president.

McCain decided to save money for the campaign by having the American people do the vetting.

The convention crowd were scary, her speech was anything but boring...

I thought the Repubs have done EXACTLY what James Carville said they would do: attack, attack, attack, and throw low blows...some of them landed...I thought Rudy gave his best speech I have ever heard...this coming from someone who has absolutely loathed the man from the get-go.
Hucky was smart to point out how the media elite has done what Mack up to now was having a problem doing: solidifying the base behind him...latest polls say now 95% of Repubs support him, something Obama could only dream about...if the base decides to turn out, as they can and may do, no matter how many registered voters Obama CLAIMS he has, they can annihilate that advantage, simply because the Repubs have a much more entrenched grassroots organization to get out the vote...no matter what Obama tries, it will be very hard to match it...it's just a sad fact.
Plus, with Diebold ready to work its wonders again, if things look tight, expect the numbers to be worked again...anyone who thinks it won't happen doesn't deserve to speak a word here.

I would say tacky is a woman who doesn't know what the VP does taking pot shots at a man she's never met or seen from a speech she didn't write from a podium she hasn't worked to stand at. Tacky is a man who promised his party he wouldn't cheaply attack a member and then went on to do it anyway in front of the whole country. Tacky is a party that talks about small government while they presume to interfere in the most private decisions of each citizen while working to deny them basic rights. Tacky is sneering wickedly as Obama Barack feels the full force of the media slime machine for close to a year, then having the nerve to cry foul when people start asking legitimate questions about the experience and wisdom of a clearly cynical selection designed to prey on voters worst tendencies. The republican party has a monopoly on tacky. Alot of people don't agree with Obama Barack's choice to take the high road this election, but it certainly does draw a start contrast when something like this comes up.
