Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin was not subjected to a lengthy in-person background interview with the head of Sen. John McCain's vice presidential vetting team until last Wednesday in Arizona, the day before McCain asked her to be his running mate, and she did not disclose the fact that her 17-year-old daughter was pregnant until that meeting, two knowledgeable McCain officials acknowledged Tuesday.

Palin was one of two finalists in the vice presidential sweepstakes who were interviewed last week by former White House counsel Arthur B. Culvahouse Jr., just days before McCain introduced her to the nation as his choice. The other finalist was Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty. One of the officials said Culvahouse was chasing down last-minute information about Pawlenty at the request of the campaign as late as last Thursday, the day McCain offered the job to Palin and she accepted.

That may be.. but Bill wasn't an extremist/fundamentalist from an obscure part of the nation, either. Reason needs to take its place within the executive again in place of ideologues bought by Oil. Value voters have hurt this nation enough. Pray to god they won't do so anymore after november.

Palin has the same credentials Bill Clinton had when he became President.

The McCain camp should have interviewed the guy that Palin had an affair with. Talking about affairs, where is Vicki Iseman anyway? All of these good Republican family values are making me sick.

Without a prepared speech written by someone else , Palin and her war criminal buddy are bumbling idiots.

In a Corporate setting, when you lie or omit information at hiring time, you can be fired.
What is the difference between that and Sarah Palin not disclosing information?

She at least should have bowed out until all was vetted. She thinks she is displaying the biggest set of balls there are in the universe...... Hubris, thy name is Sarah!

This is some scary ish. I stay shaking my head when I visit HuffPost because I know something new will be revealed about Palin. Is it over? Will this be a landslide loss? Where is the enthusiasm for this ticket? America's political climate is steadily becoming more and more progressive. That said, why try to become the staunchest conservative possible? This will bleed votes away.

Sorry if this is a repeat, but this is freakin' hilarious...

In the midst of all the confusion and upset, we DO need a comic break.

The only unfunny thing is how true to life this video is...

How dare McCain endanger the country by picking this corrupt non entity as his running mate. Given his advanced age and questionable health, it is likely this nothing could end up as president. This is no joke and the voters whether Democratic, Republican, Independent or otherwise better well consider their vote on November 4. The country is in peril with this possibility and we must not give this potential disaster short shrift.

Yikes!
There has been a WHOLE lot of ex post facto censorship today.
In 4 hours they scrubbed every reference to Obama's lack of experience and very shady background made before noon.
Fear has gripped the angry left.

I'm a relative newby, and a conservative, so I was used to some of my stuff not getting posted in the first place, but this is the first time I've seen stuff wiped out, erased.

if I didn't have so much fun debating with the libs, I'd say that kind of crap is enough to make me leave.

What's the over/under on how many people wish me happy trails? or promise to buy my ticket out of here?

No matter, this one won't get posted.....

Very enjoyable. You, Mayor Palin, don't support reproductive educuation and BINGO - your daughter pays the consequences. A bit ironic - wouldn't you say? mmmmm
Another example of bad political choices having bad personal results for every day Americans.

Or, could it be that she taught her daughter (herself, not some school administrator) about reproductive education, and the daughter still made a choice? Of course that would make her daughter the first daughter to ever do something that her parents taught her not to do.

Please believe me, I actually believe in sex ed in school, depending on what is taught (protection, std's, pregnancy, and abstinence) and when its taught.

But I believe that that responsibilty lies more with the parents to teach those lessons the way they see fit, than what some other parent/administrator thinks is right.

its not like kids in schools where abstinence is not taught don't get pregnant.

Sheesh.

Palin charismatic?? Isnt that what Mccain accused obama of? If wanting alaska to secede from the US , hiring lobbyists to earmark funds for alaska projects, putting windfall profits taxes on oil cos(didnt Mccain attach obama for this?),and firing officials who wouldnt fire an ex brother-in-law is charismatic - then the radical right can have her. She scares me more than Beelzebub.

I guess with Oil hitting $107/barrel, http://canadianpress.google.com/article/ALeqM5h57WRRW_IztTTKq-8Y_xDnakZiYg

and GDP growth of 3.3% for 2nd quarter http://www.bea.gov/newsreleases/national/gdp/gdpnewsrelease.htm

Unemployment at 5.7% (well within the average over the past 50 years, and less than the 6-7% during 2+ years under clinton) http://data.bls.gov/PDQ/servlet/SurveyOutputServlet

And Federal Housing support legislation moved through congress and signed by the president,

Democrats are starting to lose the "bad economy" argument they have been making for 12 months.

Wrong on the economy, wrong on iraq, wrong on drilling, how do they react?

Pick on a girl.

Too bad she's tougher than you are, and you will all soon learn that a strong feminist woman doesn't just mean a pro-choice woman.

Woops - don't sell yourself short! You fogot 4,152 dead Americans and $1 trillion lost in Iraq !

Oh, and BTW - Oli was $23/barrel when Gov. Bush took office! Ha!!

If oil is $107 why is gas not $2.50 a gallon?

GDP growth...does that include the oil companies outrages profits? No wonder it's high.

When peoples unemployment benefits run out they are off the record. But they are still unemployed. So those numbers are faulty.

Even, EVEN if this mess in Iraq comes to a favorable conclusion after 6-10 years...was it worth the cost? 4000+ American soldiers dead, 100's of thousands innocent Iraq's dead, billions wasted. Republicans were wrong on the war in Iraq.

Picking on a girl? She may (God help us) be the most powerful person in the free world...and you call her a girl?

man oh man oh man...

you don't get it.

go to the pump tonight... and fill up your car

go to the store and buy a gallon of milk

go to the bank and try to get a loan for your small business

go through the airport and find your name on a "watch list"

go to a funeral of your sister's only son killed in a war that we started with a country that never attacked us

go to bed and pray that we don't end up four years that look a lot like the last eight.

"great job Brownie"

McCain is so out of touch it's SCARY

He has chosen to let Rove/Bushies run his campaign and put POLITICS FIRST, COUNTRY LAST

The recklessness of this decision is almost to the point where it makes a case for the Democratic Congress impeaching J-Mac on Inauguration Day if he were to win.
