Politico:

Barack Obama has launched a broadside against John McCain's opposition to abortion rights and moved one of the most divisive issues in modern American politics to the airwaves on a large scale for the first time in this presidential campaign.

Obama's new radio ad, airing widely in at least seven swing states, tells voters McCain "will make abortion illegal." It's airing as McCain courts female voters with the addition of the staunchly anti-abortion governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin, to his ticket.

It all the way you spin it. Palin said that she chose to keep her baby....She never said there wasn't a choice and she was compelled to move forward or she never had a second thought. She said she chose to keep it. That's what it is about....CHOICE. Not dictating to people. For the party of less government, they sure do like to tell us what we can and cannot do. only patriots are republicans...says the republican party. I'm proud of my country, i have choices and I am for BARACK OBAMA and JOE BIDEN...and I'm proud of my choice. Hope everyone who reads this is proud of their choice.

Don't forget too... there is an article on Huffpo that Palin would not condone abortion even if her daughter was raped.

I too am for Barack / Biden.

McC makes his first executive choice as PALIN for VP and for desperate reasons. I not only question Palin's capability to be VP, but now question McC's capability to be POTUS.

This is a very risky move by Obama. Although polls may say
the majority of U.S. women support choice, I venture to guess that the majority of women in the swing states are very pro life.

So many wormen mistakenly believe that "Maverick" McCain is pro-choice. Do you think the legality of abortion would be debated for a nano second if MEN bore children?

I disagree, only because it highlights the danger of banning abortion under ANY circumstances, and I think there are are pro-life who take everything into consideration and don't just see it as a black and white issue.

“Let me tell you: If Roe vs. Wade is overturned, the lives and health of women will be put at risk. That's why this election is so important,” says the nurse-practitioner who narrates Obama’s ad. “John McCain's out of touch with women today. McCain wants to take away our right to choose. That's what women need to understand. That's how high the stakes are.”

Obama plays his cards well, no doubt, but he is also for putting his cards on the table. Women need to know what is at risk. We cannot move backwards in time. Illegal abortions were a horrible thing. We need to educate our population so its not the only choice.

NO RECORD OF PALIN 'SON' TRIG BORN ON THE DATE CLAIMED ... THIS IS BRISTOL 2ND PREGNANCY NOT THE 1ST!!!
http://www.mediatakeout.com/2008/26353-more_palin_drama_no_record_of_palin_son_trig_born_on_the_date_claimed__daughter_supposedly_got_pregnant_while_she_had_mono__attempts_to_force_daughter_to_get_married.html

Gov. Palin needs to take a DNA or blood test to prove that baby trig is hers... all the evidence is supporting that the baby belongs to Bristol, her daughter.
I saw pictures and VIDEO of gov. palin when she CLAIMED to be 7 and 8 months pregnant, AND SHE DIDn't look 7 or 8 months preganant to me... I have six children by two different women so I know what a 7 and 8 month pregnant woman looks like. Palin was not pregnant with trig, bristol was.
Bristol is now pregnant a second time or her 2nd pregnancy is a hoax to force her to marry her boyfriend to cover up for gov palin scandal...... faux-lame and biased news channel and other media outlets who support the GOP are trying to cover-up the scandal... and the oabama campaign is too scared to touch the issue cause they are just scared of being called a sexist for busting palin's chops.
Do a search on youtube for "palin baby"

Show me a doctor who allows a 44 year old pregnant woman on a plane during her last tri-mester. Its dangerous for a normal pregnancy. Once you are 35, you are considered high risk. Anyone know someone. Its private, but her cover ups are not.

First of all this is debunked.

Second of all, since everyone here is an expert -- how many 17 year old girls give birth to Down's
syndrome babies?

The occurance of Down syndrome birth's in young mpther's is virtually zero.

But the symptoms of Down's are very similar to both Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and genetic abnormalities caused by a child's parents being close blood relatives. Personally, I believe Todd Palin is Trig's daddy AND his grandpa...father/daughter incest occurs most frequently when the mother is absent from the home. Pure speculation, we won't know for another 15 years or so when Bristol's tell-all bestseller comes out, but think about it...

The United States is virtually the only industrialized country where the "conservative" position is anti-abortion. Conservatives in other countries understand that it is not conservative to threaten social upheval by eliminating what has become a fundamental right. The powerbrokers in the Republican Party--being largely concerned about money and power rather than social issues--understand this, which is why they talk a lot about reversing Roe but it hasn't happened.

But the threat of social upheval energizes rather than scares religious zealots. They are so smitten with Palin and her biblical agenda that they actually believe the rest of the country will follow them back 100 years. Get ready for a backlash and a landslide in November.

Actually, in Europe and Australia the party names are swapped; the "conservatives" are the liberal party, the "liberals" are much more conservative. Consider John Howard.......

Abortion was a key issue in Virginia in 1989 when Douglas Wilder, the nation's first African American governor was elected.

Wilder, a moderate Dem, and an African American, faced two strict pro lifers on the Republican ticket, Marshall Coleman (For Gov) and Edwina Dalton (Lt. Gov), widow of a popular Governor.

The Repubs position was so right wing and scary that Wilder, a black man in red, red Virginia (home of Massive Resistance only a few years before), won election. It was by the slimmest of margins. His running mate, Lt. Gov Don Beyer, won by a large margin.

I think Virginia is the perfect place to run Obama's ads now on pro-choice.

Per the NYT article from that time period

"According to a New York Times/ CBS News Poll of voters leaving their polling places, abortion was a leading issue in both Virginia and New Jersey.

In Virginia, 32 percent of the 1,147 people interviewed said it was one of the two issues that mattered most to them in deciding how to vote; education and crime were mentioned by 22 percent each, the second-largest totals. Of those who mentioned abortion, 55 percent supported L. Douglas Wilder, the Democratic nominee, who won by a few thousand votes in the unofficial tally."

In addition to McCain and Palin's views on abortion, they are against contraception and sex education.

They claim that Palin is capable to perform her job with 5 kids, yet I recently read one of the leading Repubs saying that McCain will make all the decisions, not Palin, in his White House. So, a pretty woman can get the job with 5 kids, but her job is to just sit there and look pretty.

A McCain-Palin presidency would set women back 50 years.

New ad re: abortion.

Play the statement Gov. Palin gave about her daughter "It's a personal, private, family matter"... and then a narrator says, "Yes, Gov. Palin... a woman's pregnancy IS a personal, private, family matter... you don't have a say in what a woman does w/ her body... unless that woman is you."

They need to add the money shot, which is even in cases of rape and incest, that people like Palin and the Republican Party, want to make abortion illegal for. Because the vast majority of Americans find that attitude kind of icky. I mean if they want to keep their rape or incest baby? well okily doke-ily than. But to insist that a kid pregnant through incest or other woman who as been raped be forced to make their decision? No way. No how. No McCain.

Email the campaign and voice your opinions. They should have mentioned incest and rape in the ad. I'm glad he doesn't just sit back and take it. It's time for us to fight back and focus on the ISSUES! Not family, but the economy, healthcare, and Iraq!
