Obama Airs Tough Abortion Ad In Swing States

Barack Obama has launched a broadside against John McCain's opposition to abortion rights and moved one of the most divisive issues in modern American politics to the airwaves on a large scale for the first time in this presidential campaign.

Obama's new radio ad, airing widely in at least seven swing states, tells voters McCain "will make abortion illegal." It's airing as McCain courts female voters with the addition of the staunchly anti-abortion governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin, to his ticket.

One of Obama's strengths is to be able to talk about taboo subjects in away that almost everyone should listen. I was impressed during his acceptance speech that he mentioned abortion and guns, a very gutsy move you don't see in politics as usual. I think now is the time for a comercial that should just reply that part of his speech. Something like "We may not agree on abortion, but we can agree on how to reduce teen pregnancie­s." What forshadowing. He had no idea what was going to be the big story less then a week later.

Last night Fred Thompson vehemently proclaimed that the Republican party is the party that will fight to keep government off our backs. If that's the case then please, please Fred tell your party to get government not only off our backs but to also stop trampling on women's reproductive organs. Women have ownership of their bodies, not the government. The social conservative movement of the Republican party desperately wants take ownership of our government and will stop at nothing to achieve their goals including dismantling the constitution to conform to their agenda. They believe that what is good for them is good for all of us including their brand of Christianity. Diversity in any form is not to be tolerated.
