Anchorage Daily News:

Gov. Sarah Palin wants a state board to review the circumstances surrounding the dismissal of Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan -- taking the unusual step of making an ethics complaint against herself.

Her lawyer sent an "ethics disclosure" Monday night to Attorney General Talis Colberg. The governor asked that it go to the three-person Personnel Board as a complaint. While ethics complaints are usually confidential, Palin wants the matter open.

The lawyer, Thomas Van Flein, also asked the state Legislature to drop its own investigation into the Monegan matter. He says the Personnel Board has jurisdiction over ethics.

Hey you know what would be a winner? If Sarah Palin called for Bush's impeachment. I think we should storm the right wing blogs and recommend that if McCain and Plain are such mavericks and reformers and are disgusted with the way Washington has failed us then they should put their money where their mouths are.

Is it just me, or did John McCain just select someone to be his VP who is more qualified to be president than he is? Sarah and the GOP speakers say Obama and Biden have no executive experience, and that's what you NEED to be president. Well, obviously they forgot McCain has no executive experience either. What's he going to do, go down the hallway and say 'scuse me Sarah, but how do you do a line item veto? What's he going to do when she's looking down her nose at HIM and his lack of experience trying to teach HER? This is RICH! And sad.

I love all the disgraced congressmen like Delay and Gingrich coming out and standing up for her. They vouch for her --- so, that's good.

You Republicans are SO funny this year!

What a mess...this is such a mess, a shameful mess. And the sad thing about it is that it is going to get worse.

She filed the complaint because she wants the matter investigated by the board she appointed not the legislature. She really needs to be taken to task about reforming ethics. The GOP up here was/is SO corrupt that any difference could be construed as reform. She didn't have anything to do with investigations into these guys. Ray Metcalf was the unlikely muckraker in all of this. He's a bus driver. He's also a pitbull. I know the guy and always thought he was a another one of my dad's crazy conspiracy theorist freinds, because he throws grenades at just about every politician from both parties, but this time he was right. He spent years pouring over public records of Ben Stevens (Ted's son) and continually filed ethics complaints.

GEE, WHY WOULD SHE FILE A COMPLAINT AGAINST HERSELF?

ANSWER: [Palin's] lawyer, Thomas Van Flein, also asked the state Legislature to drop its own investigation into the Monegan matter. He says the Personnel Board has jurisdiction over ethics.

I guess Alaska lacks that checks and balances thing that also went out of favour in the lower 48 eight years ago.

The Republicans are busy now trying to cover up all past messes with Sarah Palin along with down home town values of Nepotism and rigidity.

Hope the press keeps at it!!!

I don't think they allow Jesus in the White House:-) Palin would have to go back home, and take care of her moral and ethical problems without the help of McCain, Bush and Rove, which would be a miracle.

After taking over as Mayor of the small town of Wasilla, Palin fired the longtime local police chief. The former police chief, Irl Stambaugh says he was fired because he stepped on the toes of Palin's campaign contributors, including bar owners and the National Rifle Association.

Stambaugh's lawyer, William Jermain, says the chief tried to move up the closing hours of local bars from 5 a.m. to two a.m. after a spurt of drunk driving accidents and arrests.

"His crackdown on that practice by the bars was not appreciated by her and that was one reason she terminated Irl," said Jermain.
