Anchorage Daily News:

Gov. Sarah Palin wants a state board to review the circumstances surrounding the dismissal of Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan -- taking the unusual step of making an ethics complaint against herself.

Her lawyer sent an "ethics disclosure" Monday night to Attorney General Talis Colberg. The governor asked that it go to the three-person Personnel Board as a complaint. While ethics complaints are usually confidential, Palin wants the matter open.

The lawyer, Thomas Van Flein, also asked the state Legislature to drop its own investigation into the Monegan matter. He says the Personnel Board has jurisdiction over ethics.

This is nothing more than a strategy to take this decision out of the legislature's hands and put it into the hands of her own appointees/allies. This is a very serious charge and let's hope the legislature can investigate it even though the Palins have said they won't be available until AFTER the election, so that the truth comes out before the election.

Yes they need to make that clear. She seems very manipulative to me. There is no way I'd vote for McCain, he looks on death's door and I wouldn't trust Mrs. Mooseburger as far as I could throw her.

Did Palin incriminate herself and her entire family in another crime? In this email to press the firing of her brother-in-law, she admits that her father prepared the moose and all of them ate it. Killing the moose was a crime and they're all accessories.

Trying to change the 'venue' or 'jurisdiction' so that they can better 'manage' the situation. LOL.... nice trick filing on yourself after you've been appointed VP. What a joke her candidacy is... says this woman.

ethics should not take up the case because there is a legislative investigation in progress, that is standard. If they should try to supersede the investigation know there is subterfuge at play.

Wow, it looks like she is learning quickly from the current crop of criminals in the Whitehouse. They gave her a crash course in "How to manipulate the system" and "How to withhold evidence".

Congratulations Ms. Palin, you are a shining example of the criminals on the right. Just what we need for a VP.

I just talked to a friend from Alaska who voted for Sarah Palin for governor...

He's not anti-Obama, but he wants to make a point to their governor that it's not cool to abandon the state after serving less than half of her assigned duty, and he's pissed as hell about her ethical inconsistencies and about how she's made Alaska the butt of so many jokes.

As a result, he's turning his Alaskan libertarian nature into a Libertarian vote, and choosing Bob Barr for President.

Just imagine what she would have done up there in Alaska if she had competed her first term.

Why do people waste their votes on candidates who couldn't conjure enough votes to win American Idol. That vote could be used to broaden the gap between candidates that could actually win. Bob Barr and Ralph Nader are spoilers.

Is she ever going to address any of the issues facing this country? Is the entire campaign going to be about HER? Is this a *clever* strategy by the grand oil party to distract America from the fact that neither candidate they've put forward has a real position on a real issue?

Thank God their soap-opera excuse for a convention will be over tomorrow.

When's the first debate? That will answer a lot of questions.

The problem is, as callous and cynical as this move is, it does not make good news or bumper stickers.

Wonder if she will include her justification for doing this in her speech tonight? I bet not!

This investigation could completely undo her - she could be impeached for this. The McCain campaign is in full panic mode which is why they sent a dozen lawyers to Alaska.

As much as McCain has been sticking to his talking points only, you can be assured that she will be reading a prepared speech; no improvisation permitted. McCain has endured enough drama this week.

yes and that speech will blame everyone except her and that inept mccain and his campaign or not make mention of it at all... I am banking on the blame game redumblicans like to blame others unless it's them that's being blamed for their lies and deceptions.

this is SOOO transparent... oops, you caught me.... now i want to have my own appointees review the situation ... not an independent entity ... and let's drag this out as long as possible so that nothing is concluded before the election ... that's REFORM!!!

This is a gimmick and part of a stalling tactic by Palin and the McCain campaign. Yesterday, HuffPO ran an article entitled; "Palin Investigation Stalled by McCain Campaign, State Legislator Says". That article is based on an ABC News Report which detailed the Legislator's complaint. The ABC News article entitled' "October Surprise: Over Sarah Palin Investigation?" contained links to a letter from the attorney hired by Palin and (?the McCain camp?) to the Senator Hollis French, a Democrat, appointed the project manager for a bi-partisan State Senate Legislative Counsel Committee investigation. It also linked to a letter of response from Senator French.
In his response, Sen. French refused to turn over documents to a private attorney from Sarah Palin. He also mentioned that the Personnel Board oversees complaints brought against the Governor but that no complaints had been lodged. Sen. French was addressing a misunderstanding on the part of the attorney. The Legislature's investigation was self-initiated. It was not in response to the filing of a complaint. The attorney was also seeking to move the investigation out of the purview of the Legislature.
The complaint filed by Palin was an effort to advance her side's argument that the Legislature's investigation should be squashed. Bottom line - this episode is part of an effort by Palin and the McCain campaign to stall the investigation into Palin's alleged abuse of power and misconduct.

If I wasn't living this, I would think it was a soap opera. No wonder the United States has lost all credibility throughtout the world. How can we even try to be an example to Iraq or any other country about how to be a democracy, morals, family etc. This is just crazy. How can this be happening in America!!!!
