Palin Files Ethics Complaint Against Herself

Anchorage Daily News:

Gov. Sarah Palin wants a state board to review the circumstances surrounding the dismissal of Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan -- taking the unusual step of making an ethics complaint against herself.

Her lawyer sent an "ethics disclosure" Monday night to Attorney General Talis Colberg. The governor asked that it go to the three-person Personnel Board as a complaint. While ethics complaints are usually confidential, Palin wants the matter open.

The lawyer, Thomas Van Flein, also asked the state Legislature to drop its own investigation into the Monegan matter. He says the Personnel Board has jurisdiction over ethics.

I think Palin has something to hide. McCain has made a fatal mistake in choosing her. Hopefully they will go down in flames as Obama and Biden step to the White House.

This is an attempt to stall the investigation, not to bring clarity. The personnel board is made of people appointed by and loyal to her, who will gladly delay any investigation till after the election.

I've got this little problem in Alaska & I'm being investigated & we've already been told that there is likely to be damaging evidence come out of this investigation. I'd like the investigation to go away & instead I'd like to appoint some of my friends to a cushy little position of "investigating" me. I think that's much more fair & wouldn't you know it... I'm the Governor. Didn't we just watch 8 years of this movie???

The Personnel Board is part of the Department of Administration whose commissioner is appointed and serves at the pleasure of Palin.

Of course! She filed complaint against herself because it requires a complaint to start the investigation. She wants this Personel Board to investigate because she appointed that Board! So her friends will be the judge instead of the legislative branch committee who already is investigating the matter. Why another one when there is already an investigation? Because they are not her friends, they are elected by voters. They are not appointed by her. Such a fresh air from a "reformer"!

This is an end-around to try to get out of the bipartisan Alaska legislature's investigation of Palin, whose report is due out by Oct. 31, BEFORE the election. The report is widely thought to be very negative for Palin. Palin's lawyer is supposedly being paid $95,000 for his work on Palin's behalf by the state of Alaska, however, I suspect the RNC will pay him much more to try to get the legislature's investigation squelched. Not sure this is a wise expenditure, however, because the cat is already out of the bag and this smacks of a cover-up. Additionally, Palin has many more problems to deal with including but not limited to her crazy church pastor, her secessionist husband (who, by the way, is known as "The Shadow Governor" because he sits in on the governor's meetings and has access to her confidential email), and her daughter's high school dropout redneck boyfriend. There's a new looming scandal having to do with abuse of her power and that is there was another firing of one of her own aides because he was having a relationship with the ex-wife of one of Todd Palin's good friends. Stay tuned!!

This reminds me of 1972 when the democrats were screaming at the top of their lungs that their headquarters at the Watergate complex had been broken into by republican operatives.

No one listened and it took several years for this to play out with the eventual resignation of Nixon.

These charges against Palin will not be decided before the election in November, surprise surprise.

However, we do not need the results of this investigation to tell us that Governor Palin would be disastrous for America in so many ways.

We are beginning to learn how radical she is on a variety of issues, pushing for intelligent design in our schools and encouraging the secession of Alaska from the USA is enough for me to start worrying if this team gets elected.
