New York Times:

After days of mounting questions about her qualifications, Gov. Sarah Palin rallied the Republican National Convention tonight by touting her small-town government experience and ridiculing concerns about whether she is up to the job of vice president.

"Before I became governor of the great state of Alaska, I was mayor of my hometown," Ms. Palin said. "And since our opponents in this presidential election seem to look down on that experience, let me explain to them what the job involves. I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a community organizer, except that you have actual responsibilities."

Palins' speech yesterday was just combative and devoid of any substance. She is yet to tell us how she and Mccain intend to solve the problems facing the nation due to the failed Bush policies.

She came across as hoping they will win the election on empty rhetorics by just whipping up combative comments, but no election is won on that basis.

I hope Obama will not just let this go, but respond back with the same intensity that she has shown.

i completely and totally agree. she just showed how ignorant and out of touch the republican party is. i was not amused at all. it sounded so childish.
they really look ridiculous. nothing is well said or put together in a professional tone.
almost borderlines embarassing for all of america that someone of her background caould even be a candidate.
if she cannot run a household effectively, how can she help run our nation?

Most people do not get their news from huffpo--they get it from the mainstream media. You are obviously living in an insulated, delusional world where you believe everything that is manufactured by liberals. If they tell you that all Hillary supporters will vote for Obama, you believe it. If they tell you that Sarah Palin is not inspiring Democratic and Independent women to vote Republican, you believe it. If they tell you that the surge is not working and the Iraq war is lost, you believe it.

I predict the following: Obama's followers will keep listening to the pollsters and the liberal media and keep thinking he is invincible. When he loses, they will blame the Republicans for rigging the election. Why? Because they will be so out of touch with reality leading up to the election that they will not even conceive of the possiblity that "the Messiah" could somehow lose fair and square.

In that sense, 2008 will be a replay of the last two elections. Dems are still complaining that votes were suppressed. They still haven't faced the fact that when it comes to foreign policy and the working class, Dems have been on the wrong side of the fence since the departure of great leaders like JFK and Harry Truman.

As a former Democrat disenchanted with the currrent state of the party, I can only hope that you will continue your delusional ways as this will ensure victory for the Republicans in November.

"A spokesman for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is hitting back hard at Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin's speech Wednesday night, calling it "shrill and sarcastic.""

From CNN Ticker.

Shrill? Has Harry ever called a guy "shrill".

"McCain faces higher bar as he takes the stage tonight after VP pick Sarah Palin rocks the house..." (Headline on FOX)

Wouldn't it be funny if McC*in's speech tonight didn't get half the applause that Lippy's did last night?

I think the lady read the speech very well. It was full of lies and attacks. Just what they wanted to hear.

But, the WOMAN IS A POSTER CHILD FOR FAILED FAMILY VALUES. A complete contradiction to what the GOP claims is their calling card.

Democrats lets get down. Put the nice toys away. It's time to take this seriuos.

Banana Republic wikipedia

excerpt:
Frequently the subject of mockery and humour, and usually presided over by a dictatorial military junta that exaggerates its own power and importance—"the epaulettes of a banana republic generalissimo" are proverbially of considerable size, usually portrayed in satire with a pair of mops—a banana republic also typically has large wealth inequities, poor infrastructure, poor schools, a "backward" economy, low capital spending, a reliance on foreign capital and money printing, budget deficits, and a weakening currency. Banana republics are typically also highly prone to revolutions and coups.

To begin with the dems have had control of the House and Congress for two years with Nancy P. and Harry R. running the show. Have you seen CHANGE yet? The gas was 2.50 a gallon and homes were affordable then. What have they been doing????? They sit there blaming everything on the President thanks to our bias media , while they are much to blame if not more for our economic disaster. Nancy and Harry has been so busy trying to impeach President Bush with my tax dollars when we are in the middle of an energy, economic ,war and rumor of more wars. Tell me what the democrats have done in the two years that they have been in control? Oh yea, they over ruled a veto not to long ago that padded their wallet. Are they really looking out for us?

Obama is going to bring CHANGE with BIDEN for his VP pick. He has been in the Senate since the 70's. Talk about Mr. Washington!

McCain is not so popular in Washington because he bucks up against those good old boys.

Palin went up against corrupt Republicans in Alaska.

I have no doubt McCain Palin ticket if anyone can bring CHANGE!

Bill Clinton as former president adviser to the current president, Kennedy in charge of education, some high profile dem with economic gravitas in charge of economic policy,

Sebelius and Gore on the environment, Richardson on immigration,

Clark on national security, James Carville, Terry McKormick, mix in some high profile Obamacans, all under the fair, wise leadership of the great Obama, the peaceful prince of diplomacy and judgement.

Now, If I'm Obama's campaign manager, I'd suggest that O assemble a democratic dream team starring the Queen Bee Hillary Clinton in charge of a high level universal health care and women's issues project,
