Palin Goes After Obama

After days of mounting questions about her qualifications, Gov. Sarah Palin rallied the Republican National Convention tonight by touting her small-town government experience and ridiculing concerns about whether she is up to the job of vice president.

"Before I became governor of the great state of Alaska, I was mayor of my hometown," Ms. Palin said. "And since our opponents in this presidential election seem to look down on that experience, let me explain to them what the job involves. I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a community organizer, except that you have actual responsibilities."

American is in trouble if they believed any of those lies told last night. When will they wake up and see where the repugs are going is in the wrong direction for the people. Their agenda is strictly for the money people and had nothing to do with helping all those really in need. How can we accept those words that mean absolutely nothing to us and call that a great speech?

A great speech is one that delivers what the people need. I got nothing out of that speech other than of the same republican talking points with a lot more lies against BO coming out of a woman's mouth that doesn't even know him. She talked like he was an idiot trying to be something he is not. That was so disrespectful and appalling and the repugs ate it up and spat it out.

If this is where our country is right now, it makes me sick on my stomach to see how ignorant people can be in the name of the almighty dollar. Human feelings has nothing to do with the republicans and I certainly wouldn't want such inhuman people running my government.

It just goes to show that "money has no morales".

At the DNC, 34 percent of the delegates were black or Hispanic. At the RNC, 93% of delegates are white, 5% Hispanic and only 1.5% African-American - in fact, it is the lowest black delegate representation at a Republican convention in 40 years.

According to the most recent census white non-Hispanics only make up two-thirds of the population and that number is shrinking. Amazingly, 45% of those under the age of 5 are not white. And by 2042, America will be a minority-majority country as whites will be less than 50% of the population

According to William Frey, a Brookings Institution demographer, "The white population is older and very much centered around the aging baby boomers who are well past their high fertility years. . . The future of America is epitomized by the young people today. They are basically the melting pot we are going to see in the future." I for one consider it a shameful embarrassment that in a nation as diverse as ours, there would still be a political party in the 21st Century with only 1.5% African-American delegates at their convention...

This speech was part mom, part Pit Bull and part policy wonk. I mean she went after Obama as hard as anyone. She basically ripped him to shreds but she didn’t do it in a way that looked mean or vindictive. That’s hard to do but she pulled it off. Instead, she did it in a way that playfully poked fun at his expense. There was no reason for her to deliver her lines in a mean, terse way. Rather, she let the crowd take care of the wild and raucous reaction.

The Mayor of Detroit is in charge of significantly more people than the Governor of Alaska. And we need this "executive" experience? (950,000 people in Detroit vs. 680.00 people in whole State of Alaska)
You really need to go to Alaska to understand fully what being Governor of it means -- it is like no other state I've visited (and I've visited almost all). So you just have to go. 680, 000 is whole state population – a little less (by about 40,000) than the population of Louisville KY in space two times the size of Texas. Alaska ranks #1 in area of all states and #47 in population (only about half of Hawaii's population) and it is the state with the least population density by far than any other state. Ohio has about 11 million people, and Alaska has about 680,000. Popularity rating is whole new ballgame with these numbers. Executive experience is whole new meaning. Really -- visit. The numbers don't even convey what I'm trying to say.

Alaska also has a very narrow economic base, with about 1/3 coming from oil and related products, and 1/3 from federal spending.
