Palin Goes After Obama

After days of mounting questions about her qualifications, Gov. Sarah Palin rallied the Republican National Convention tonight by touting her small-town government experience and ridiculing concerns about whether she is up to the job of vice president.

"Before I became governor of the great state of Alaska, I was mayor of my hometown," Ms. Palin said. "And since our opponents in this presidential election seem to look down on that experience, let me explain to them what the job involves. I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a community organizer, except that you have actual responsibilities."

Why are Chris Matthews and others touting that horrific speech?

She comes off as repulsive. Does anyone besides the base, really find her appealing?

At the DNC, 34 percent of the delegates were black or Hispanic. At the RNC, 93% of delegates are white, 5% Hispanic and only 1.5% African-American - in fact, it is the lowest black delegate representation at a Republican convention in 40 years.

According to the most recent census white non-Hispanics only make up two-thirds of the population and that number is shrinking. Amazingly, 45% of those under the age of 5 are not white. And by 2042, America will be a minority-majority country as whites will be less than 50% of the population

According to William Frey, a Brookings Institution demographer, "The white population is older and very much centered around the aging baby boomers who are well past their high fertility years. . . The future of America is epitomized by the young people today. They are basically the melting pot we are going to see in the future." I for one consider it a shameful embarrassment that in a nation as diverse as ours, there would still be a political party in the 21st Century with only 1.5% African-American delegates at their convention...

How was Governor Palin's speech any different from those given by Romney, by Huckabee or by Mayor 9/11 ? Wasn't her speech more of a keynote speech than the acceptance speech of someone who is running to be Vice President of these United States ?

I didn't realize that Obama's only job was as a 'community ooooorganizerrrrr'. She was elected mayor in a town where everybody was related some kind of way. I'm certain of it by the looks of the foolishness that's coming out.

And she was almost recalled from her job as mayor, did a bunch of questionable things, tried to ban books from the library, raised regressive taxes while cutting progressive taxes for a net raise of 38%, increased spending 33%, spent the town's booty on an ice rink instead of the new sewer they needed and left them behind with $20 million in debt. There were questionable firings in Wasilla too.

She ought to be covering up her past, not bragging about it, if she wants to get another job anywhere but backward Alaska.

Just because she wants to dig at Obama she goes and puts down our work, and we give it freely to the communities, as did Obama! I am furiouse at this woman, as a women! She left that town she was mayor in with millions of dollars in debt, and was on a recall list, but she didn't tell you that.She braged about lowering their tax's instead. I am a gainfully employed African American who does about 16 to 20 volunteer hours a month as a community organizer to help Chicagoans with their home energy issues.

This woman is not America.

Palin doesn't care about those Americans who give their time to serve our poor and needy. Instead, she simply prints the checks from the oil/gas company rebates in Alaska and calls that community service. Last night, Palin simply insulted every working American who cares enough about our country to try to help.
