I Like ItI Don’t Like It

In a continuation of the trend of celebrity magazines covering political figures this presidential campaign season, both Us Weekly and OK! feature John McCain's Vice Presidential pick Sarah Palin on their covers this week.

Us headlines its cover, "Babies, Lies, and Scandal" while OK!, which uses the same photo as Us, but flips it, goes with "A Mother's Painful Choice." Interestingly, OK! goes with a double-cover, seen below, with the alternative cover a picture of Barack and Michelle Obama from Thursday night's acceptance speech, also flipped horizontally, with the headline, "Life With My Girls."

Us featured the Obamas on its cover in June, to surprising newsstand success. People recently featured the Obamas as well, but with less successful newsstand results.

What's suspicious is they chose to release the news Palin's daughter is pregnant to stop rumors about the 4month old not being Palin's son. I can think of a dozen ways they could have done that. Hospital records she was admitted would have been enough. The rumors are mounting on the web, and you know what they say, "where there's smoke there's fire". The fact no one knew Ms. Palin was expecting, and her daughters sudden disappearance from school for months raised the suspicions. I don't think people care rather her daughter is having children but I do believe people want to know if Ms. Palin would go as far to spin such a lie. I think the jury is still out.

There's hospital records. - Photos of her holding the baby after birth. - Baby shower pics - etc, etc, etc. And yet her husband, supposedly Trig's father, doesn't even seem to acknowledge the child. And Bristol is not showing ANY sort of 5 month pregnancy. This is just sad all the way around.

Yep, taking a leave of absence from his job and actually caring for his child sure sounds like he "doesn't even seem to acknowledge the child." Get your own lives people and get out of the Palin's personal life - show's over - go back to Paris or Britney - they crave your support and intrusion.

Alaska's 'First Dude'
Keeps Things Low-Key
By JIM CARLTON
September 3, 2008; Page A5 Wall Street Journal
WASILLA, Alaska --
....An oil-field production operator on Alaska's North Slope, Mr. Palin has taken months off work to help manage a household of five children. The disclosure by Mr. Palin and his wife Monday that their 17-year-old daughter, Bristol, is pregnant out of wedlock put the family in the spotlight again. Mr. Palin also has traveled around the state to promote vocational education, which as part Yupik Eskimo he considers a way to help Alaska's native villages.
When a Wall Street Journal reporter spent two days following Gov. Palin in June, Mr. Palin kept a low profile, mostly tending to his youngest son, Trig, as the governor attended events in the Anchorage area. Often, female bystanders asked him to pose for photos......

"A mother's painful choice"
One that she would deny to all the other mothers in America. Whatever.

No, she would not. She believes in life, but has never pushed any anti-abortion legislation.

Why are you so fixated on death?

Downs children are nothing but a blessing. It disgusts me that if the left had its way, they would vanish from our culture. What can you expect from all of these pro-choice women who have no interest in children?

Listen to the Phil Coulter song, "Scorn not, His Simplicity" to understand what life is like for the family of a downs child.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 12:32 PM on 09/03/2008

Thats right TJ, the left wants to murder all downs babies everywhere. Over in reality we realize that is in no way a part of the pro choice view. The point is that not everyone is Sarah Palin. I think its amazing that Trig will have a loving family who is able to care for him. He is lucky and they are lucky to be able to do so. Not everyone is that lucky. Not everyone is equipped to deal with this situation. Who are you to tell anyone what is right for them and their own bodies? The point isn't that everyone HAS TO have an abortion. The point is that they should have the right to decide what is good for their lives.

excuse me, but you're talking out of your @ss. my brother was born with severe and profound autism and a host of other delays (doctor's term, not mine) and YES I LOVE HIM but a blessing he was not. It tore my family apart, it punched a hole through our finances, and everything else. there was never a word about not having him (my parents had no idea that there were complications) but having a special needs child is an enormous STRESS on a family. you can't deny it.

No, the left wants to take care of those babies. The left wants to provide universal healthcare for those babies. The left wants to provide the special education services for those babies. The left wants to provide for those babies when they get older and their parents are no longer able to take care of those babies. Remember those babies grow older and most are unable to ever take care of themselves when they grow into adult hood. It's the left that wants to provide for the least amongst us, those that can't take care of themselves. It's the left that fights for the social programs that help those babies.

So, let me get this right. You left the Dem party because you think Democrats are worst than Republicans. Ha…when exactly did you leave the Dem Party? I bet it was under Reagan. Let me ask you…if Chelsea would've become pregnant without a father how many of you would have defended the Clinton's right to privacy. Also, somehow we are to keep family private matters private but Republicans just keep talking about how she had the baby even though she knew the baby had down syndrome. Well, I have four kids and we never even try to find out if they had any illness before we had them. We believed that however the baby came it was out of our hands and the only thing we could do is to love them.

Thank you for your one decent comment. Barack lost my vote, and will never get it back. US and his in the tank media people make me sick. He is all about his disgusting wife, and watch out Barack-you have two daughters-this can happen to you. Don;t act like he does not know what is going on. Biden and Obama are uppity, snobs.

I guess we see what she's doing instead of figuring out the job of the Vice-President of the United States.

I cannot wait until Hillary gets out there, again. There's no way she's gonna let the likes of Sara Palin into the White House.

Wait a minute. Didn't they ask for privacy? What's private about posing with your infant for a cover of a major magazine? What's going on here? How stupid do these people think we are?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:03 AM on 09/03/2008

Apparantly we give you TOO MUCH credit as you might note that she did not pose specifically for US Weekly's biased cover - it is a stock photo.

Sarah Palin isn't Hillary Clinton.

Fluff journalism like this doesn't further the debate.

Sarah Palin's stances on the issues stand in stark contrast to the large majority of the American people.

Don't let them distract you with this cotton-candy journalism.

Learn the differences and vote smart.

Thank God she is not. Sarah Palin is a real woman who earned per position, unlike Hillary who had the advantage of the White House.
