I Like ItI Don’t Like It

In a continuation of the trend of celebrity magazines covering political figures this presidential campaign season, both Us Weekly and OK! feature John McCain's Vice Presidential pick Sarah Palin on their covers this week.

Us headlines its cover, "Babies, Lies, and Scandal" while OK!, which uses the same photo as Us, but flips it, goes with "A Mother's Painful Choice." Interestingly, OK! goes with a double-cover, seen below, with the alternative cover a picture of Barack and Michelle Obama from Thursday night's acceptance speech, also flipped horizontally, with the headline, "Life With My Girls."

Us featured the Obamas on its cover in June, to surprising newsstand success. People recently featured the Obamas as well, but with less successful newsstand results.

And how many of you have lost a husband, a wife, a sister, a brother, a friend in either of the wars that are going on? How many of you would like to see the Media turn back to what is really at stake here. National Security, Economics, Immigration, Our Children's Education. Gossip and innuendo have there place when our country isn't in such dire need of good governance. However, now is not the time for those. Conservative and Liberal. Redirect please to what is really important..Our Country!

Issues are not as exciting for the left MSM as smearing someone and ruining their lives.

Can anyone imagine a MALE VP candidate posing, in a suit, with his 4 month old?

How desperate is this?

Did you ask your daughter first? Are you afraid she might aspire to be Vice president, a mother, a leader , to field dress a moose?

Wow, having it all, all at the same time. A newborn AND the vice presidency, AND being there to support her pregnant teenage daughter, AND running a state, AND defending herself against an ethics violation probe.

Gosh, women can bring home the bacon and fry it up in a pan, be #2 in the country with a baby on one hip. Get in trouble for the very same ethics problems that men can. What a role model!

DO NOT UNDERRESTIMATE GOV. PALIN. She is NO JOKE.
Expect Gov. Palin to do well tonight. She may be new, but she is VERY GOOD.

Despite her inexperience, she DID beat sitting Governor Murkowski, and she DID beat Big Oil, partly because they thought she would be easy. She is NOT.

They lowered the expectations on her, but she WILL exceed them.
She is telegenic. She knows how to give a speech. She connects with people.

Do not underestimate this woman. She is smart and she is tough.

And she really knows how get things done.

Believe me, we will be watching tonight. They're trotting out the guy who got her daughter pregnant. This is going to be some good TV.

Oh, how I love to watch car wrecks.

The odds of another Vice President shooting someone in the face has just increased.

Does all this remind anyone of the Desperate Housewives story line in which Bree pretends to be pregnant to hide the pregnancy of her daughter? If this election wasn't so serious, it would all be too amusing.

TPM and other blogs are still raising doubts about poor Trig's maternity. Has the McCain/Palin campaign come forth with any proof? The truth will come out - the story is just too delicious to go away unless it is false.

Can we officially call Sarah Quaylin a "celebrity"???

LOL

Gosh, what a fruit. She asks for privacy, yet poses for exclusive photos.

No, Governor Palin is not entitled to privacy for herself or her family. It is unremarkable that she would have a child with Down Syndrome. The odds for that are 1 in 35 at age 43 when she gave birth to Trig. Governor Palin rejects a right to privacy that includes the most intimate medical decisions, thus, she is not entitled to it either.

Governor Palin rejects a woman's right to choose and thus did not have a choice in bearing her child with Down Syndrome. What whe did have a choice in was to genetically test her unborn child, to check his chromosome status. She did choose to do tha which is quite puzzling given her anti-choice position. Was she considering aborting Trig? If not, why test him?

"What whe did have a choice in was to genetically test her unborn child, to check his chromosome status."

Thank you, someone finally said it. I know plenty of people who are pro-choice that didn't even have the testing because it wouldn't have caused them to choose abortion. Why did she even have the testing at all, it is completely voluntary?

Methinks Bristol didn't tell her she was pregnant until it was too late.
Oh, that's right, he is Sarah's baby and she got on a plane after her water broke with a premature Down Syndrome baby (first giving her key note speech) and flew 8 hours back to Alaska, then 45 minutes to the hospital, then went back to work three days later. But then, since the Republican Party is so supportive of working mothers, it's just sexist of me to wonder about her judgement.

On another note, McCain makes me question my own judgement because I actually would have voted for him at one time. I wouldn't trust him to watch my house, 'course I only have one house and can't take the risk.

She had tests just like any other woman of her age who is pregnant. This procedure is pretty standard for pregnant women over a certain age that puts them at risk.

Get a clue!!!

I just hope the alternative news press such as US weekly and the National Enquirer don't give up on the story about Ms. Palin not being the mother of he 5 month old. There is just more to this story. When McCain first announced she was his running mate and I saw the daughter holding the baby I knew there was something going on. The MSM tends to shy away from this stuff but if she lied to the state of Alaska about being pregnant--and believe me the pics of her at supposed 7 mos along are totally unbelievable--then what else is she hiding. It is odd that she would throw her daughter under the bus-- so to speak; because as a parent you would want to protect your child. Wouldn't it have been easier to just produce a valid birth certificate for the 5 mos old and send the daughter back to Alaska out of the spotlight and media frenzy?

I do believe it's extremely hypocritical. The Palins (including Bristol) have posed for exclusive pictures, yet say they want privacy. Typical: http://www.ireport.com/docs/DOC-74408
