MSNBC:

The GOP candidate for vice president, Gov. Sarah Palin, may be facing yet another ethics investigation back in her home state of Alaska. An ethics complaint obtained by NBC News was filed Wednesday by the police officers union in Alaska, requesting a probe into possible wrongdoing by the governor or her office. It was brought on behalf of state trooper Mike Wooten, an ex-brother-in-law of Palin who is at the center of the "Troopergate" scandal.

The complaint alleges that the governor or her staff may have have improperly disclosed information from Wooten's personnel records. The complaint alleges "criminal penalties may apply."

John Cyr, director of the union that filed the complaint, told NBC News, "It seems obvious to us somebody has improperly accessed [Wooten's] personnel file."

That's ok, she'll just fire the entire police force.

Disabled Arizona teacher here . . . giving $25 a month, wish it could be more. The GOP convention motto could be "Steal from the Needy to Give to the Greedy". We've got to give to get Obama/Biden in . . . no one else notices all us 'little people' out there.

sounds like nothing, but it appears that the waiver only applies to his or his ex-wife's attorneys, not the general public or palin or her staff.

Right but she claims that the disclosed information came from her husband who obtained the information during her sisters divorce proceedings(implying that the sister freely gave him the information). Therefore, no breach. What else can she say? It's not like she is going to tell the truth. They will make sure she has some kinfd of answer for anything and they will work overtime to cover her moose tracks.

I predict the trooper-gate story along with the potential BOMBSHELL 'Love Affair 'story from the National Inquirer will force Gov.Palin to give up her party's VP nomination.

The National Enquirer has learned from lost legal battles and do not publish major stories without solid sources. Could be interesting.

First, the Enquirer has not yet published allegations that Sarah Palin had an affair with her husband's friend. Second, defamation against a public figure or official has a much higher standard of proof than defamation against a private citizen. So don't make assumptions about an area you have such limited knowledge of.

Sounds like the Republican thugs are saying that the guy signed a release of records as part of a divorce matter. I doubt it included authorization to releas information to another source.

The thugs will spin spin spin until they are out of control.

How did she accept the VP nomination before McCain was officially confirmed as the party nominee by the delegate counts. I realize this is a minor point but it seemed strange to me that whole procedure?

Someone help me out please!

Above all rules & laws .... During the speech she gave in accepting Mc's offer, Sarah said that "she" was going to take their campaign across this country!! I noted the emphasis she placed on "she" !!!? This is another egomanical, power drunk personality! It's all about her!!

I looked back at her speech, i guess she did not really accept yet.

"Mr. Chairman, delegates, and fellow citizens: I am honored to be considered for the nomination for Vice President of the United States...

I accept the call to help our nominee for president to serve and defend America."

"The McCain/Palin campaign Thursday launched a spirited defense when contacted by NBC News. They say the personnel files were not protected;"
Really? They must do things very differently up north (perhaps its all that diplomacy with the Russians). EVERYWHERE that I've ever worked or heard about personnel files are sacrosanct.

Not protected. Really now. Okey dokey. In that case, let's access all of THEIR personnel records and let the world see. That complaint just might persuade Ms. Palin's aide to start talking. Otherwise, he may be charged with accessing the personnel files himself. I suspect he will start singing like a canary real soon.

I'd just like to see McCain release ALL of his military records, not just the few pages that the press only got a gander out. Let's see the hundred and more pages that McCain refuses to release. Kerry released all of his. What's McCain hiding or ashamed of?

Really? Even Florida's Sunshine law specifically exempts Law Enforcemnt Officers. Their files are not available to the general public. Something to do with protecting them and their families from retaliation/revenge.

This may not come to anything really ... at best some summary judgment will issue against her office and not her specifically!!! Her ex-brother-in-law may enter into a union sponsored arbitration and agree to accept his job back and retroactive loss wages as settlement.

Who knows ... but, I doubt if any criminal actions will occur!!!

It was his boss who she improperly fired for not firing him

Her brother-in-law never lost his job. Gov. Palin allegedly tried, unsuccessfully, to get him fired. The state of Alaska must have laws protecting the privacy of personnel records. The police collective bargaining agreement may also speak to this issue. It is not going away that quickly. Police unions never do.

Palin's Reformer Image Tainted by History of Ethical Lapses

When John McCain trotted out Sarah Palin as his vice presidential running mate, his campaign and much of the U.S. news media depicted the Alaska governor as an ethics “reformer” whose meteoric political rise came from her confronting corruption within her own state Republican Party.

But a closer look at Palin's short political career reveals that she committed some of the same ethical lapses that she has attacked, especially during her unsuccessful bid for lieutenant governor in 2002. She also has shown herself to be a thin-skinned politician quick to see herself as the target of conspiracies.

They're the dynamic duo of corruption. McCain has had his share of "ethical lapses", some of which have cost the American taxpayer millions. McCain too is thin skinned and vindictive. McCain/Palin, soul mates made in hell.

For Pete's sake ... they've turned this election into a soap opera .. .where in the bejezus are the grown ups? They sure as he DOUBLE HOCKEY STICKS (Sarah Palin) are not in the Republican party. What a load of dung has been dropped on the American people too:

a) deflect failures of the party in power
b) cloak the fact that Bush is implementing all of Obama's policy prescriptions
c) take the heat off the most politically contrived and self-serving VP pick in history

“I make them as quickly as I can, quicker than the other fellow, if I can,” Mr. McCain wrote, with his top adviser Mark Salter, in his 2002 book, “Worth the Fighting For.” “Often my haste is a mistake, but I live with the consequences without complaint.

But, when we complain about his decisions (aka Palin)... we are sexists.

Wow. She's the stereotype of the "vindictive woman." How sad for all women in America that John McSame had to have yet another beauty queen instead of someone accomplished and with the real experience needed for the job. I can't believe people are actually going on TV and saying that since Alaska is so close to Russia she's got Foreign Policy cred. Have Americans really become that dumb?? Don't answer that.
