Bush Aides Schooling Palin In Foreign Policy

The McCain team has hastily assembled a team of former Bush White House aides to tutor the vice-presidential candidate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, on foreign-policy issues, to write her speeches and to begin preparing her for her all-important Oct. 2 debate against Sen. Joe Biden.

Steve Biegun, who once served as the No. 3 National Security Council official under Condoleezza Rice at the White House, has been hired as chief foreign-policy adviser to the Alaska governor, campaign officials told NEWSWEEK. After taking leave from his job as vice president for international affairs at Ford Motor Co. last Friday, Biegun flew to St. Paul and, together with McCain's foreign-policy guru Randy Schuenemann, began briefings for Palin on national-security issues--an area where her resume is conspicuously thin.

Why do they have to send her to school? Doesn't that contradict the many Republicans who say she already has tons of foreign policy experience?

Plus, you can't TEACH somebody "experience". That's like reading the recipe and telling people that you know how to cook a complex ethnic dish.

Obama serves on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and traveled to several countries on official business for that committee as well. He also serves on the Senate European Affairs (?) Committee and co-sponsored a bill against nuclear proliferation that was later passed into law.

NOBODY CAN TEACH YOU THAT! It's what's known as "experience".

I am truly offended by the choice of Sarah Palin for the GOP VP ( I am a Democrat, but still can't believe that ANYONE would actually do this!). It is truly scary that a person with so little political experience has been chosen. She seems to have a very "redneck" viewpoint on life. McCain has battled cancer and is 72 years old . . . what if this "redneck" woman becomes president of this country? A truly frightening thought. I can't believe that any Republican would vote for this ticket. I could not watch her talk last night. It made me sick to watch her spew her negative, Republican boloney! IT IS A JOKE!!!!

They probably don't need to school her about Bush domestic policy. No doubt she's already anti stem cell research and would intervene in family medical decisions, a la Terry Schiavo. Anyone who wouldn't allow their own daughter to have an abortion after a rape, is just whacked. What's next? Is she going to have the FBI raid my house to see if I have any books she disapproves of? Will I be put in Gitmo if I send a contribution to a guy with the name of B Hussein Obama? Will I have to sign an oath of loyalty? Will we be told who we can talk to and when we can talk to them? Will we all be forced to accept her one-world view of religion in which only ultraconservative Christians rule the world with no democracy, no plurality?
