Newsweek:

The McCain team has hastily assembled a team of former Bush White House aides to tutor the vice-presidential candidate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, on foreign-policy issues, to write her speeches and to begin preparing her for her all-important Oct. 2 debate against Sen. Joe Biden.

Steve Biegun, who once served as the No. 3 National Security Council official under Condoleezza Rice at the White House, has been hired as chief foreign-policy adviser to the Alaska governor, campaign officials told NEWSWEEK. After taking leave from his job as vice president for international affairs at Ford Motor Co. last Friday, Biegun flew to St. Paul and, together with McCain's foreign-policy guru Randy Schuenemann, began briefings for Palin on national-security issues--an area where her resume is conspicuously thin.

Is Governor Sarah Palin ready to lead on a national level?

Total Votes = 7147

Yes 3801 Votes, or 53.18 %
No 3346 Votes, or 46.81 %

Not even people in her own 'state' thinks she's ready. Even they know she's a fraud!

Oh, to be a fly on the wall for those foreign policy training sessions. Anyone betting they're teaching her a few 'tag lines' to use over and over again, and for which no real understanding is necessary?? Rather like they did for Bush!
We've seen Sarah's schtick before. In all the other right wing, smart mouthed women. Ann Coulter...Laura Ingraham...Michelle Malkin..she stole their act!! They should sue. The usual pretty right wing lady with the constant ridicule, acid commentary, and snide jokes...all delivered slickly. She just dressed it up with an 'official' position.

Is that what we want in our government?

When this is all over she can be a FOX News contributor.

The comments for this story just kinda write themselves, don't they?

We never should've said a word about her foreign policy experience, she was better off.

Foreign Policy Advice from B.ush:

This is the list of countries we plan to bomb.

This is the list of countries we hate. Yes, it's been updated since O.bama's trip.

This is the list who hates us. And here. And here. And this sheet too.

This is the list where we're claiming victory. ....well, even though we're victorious, your son may still be killed there. Well, that's just how it is when you win wars.

This is the list where we're standing up to evil. No, that's the other Georgia. Near Russia. Yes, that Russia. On the other side of Russia from Alaska. Before you get to the Atlantic.

This is the list we owe money to. And here. And here.

This is the list we buy oil from. Heh heh, well, let's not rock that boat, shall we?

And this is the list we don't negotiate with. Wait, another update.

But wait! I thought Sarah Palin was the most qualified already because of her "executive" experience and because Alaska is near Russia. Why does she need to be tutored then? To hear the Republicans talk she's already "all that".

If they get away with this, then this will be the Cliff Notes presidency.

A woman who by her own admition didn't really pay much attention to the war, being so focused on Alaska and who glibly admits she was only aware of McCain's beloved surge because she heard about it "on the news" is going to be brought up to speed in an 8 week crash course. They've hired her some tutors, they're going to teach her shortcuts, some memory exercises, map out foreign policy via Dick Cheney 101 with the help of pie charts and crib notes.

It boggles my mind. Because they're not even attempting to hide it. They might as well announce that she's taking the Berlitz course in "Speak fluent Foreign Policyese in 2 months or your money back".

All they ask is that she fake it well enough to get through the election, then they would happily entrust the country to her. My country.

The Maverick John McCain has never recovered from the slimeball attacks he faced in S. Carolina in 2000. Now the Pale Shadow of the former John McCain has turned to his attackers to help him beat up on the next guy.

This, to me, says a lot about John McCain. He was the victim of vicious lies and smears, yet he now turns to it. But then, he's also the one who was tortured, broken and signed a false confession, yet condones US torture even though he knows that information gained from torture can't be trusted for accuracy.

I can't help making the comparison to the brand new Atty General, Janet Reno, and the "schooling" she received from the FBI and BATF when they "raided" the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas. She too was new and inexperienced and was certainly used by the FBI et al who wanted their own agenda. What she got was an event that colored the entire rest of her life; the burning to death of 76 men, women and children; an unnecessary massacre of Americans by "law enforcement". It should be remembered that the tactics used by the FBI/BATF included shutting off water and electricity and playing super-loud "music", etc, to force submission, instead of using dialogue to end the tragic and avoidable confrontation.

I shudder to think what an inexperienced "religious" extremist flat-earth VP (or prez) could be "schooled" into by the same Bush/Neocon fools who have turned our nation inside out over the last 7 years. A McCain/Palin admn. is just more of the same, and that includes “small-town” America.

We cannot afford to pay the price for the total lack of critical experience to make informed decisions by a petty functionary with non-existant foreign policy understanding of her own. We cannot afford to pay the bill for incompetence and beliefs that actions taken are "what God wants" or by the "schooling" of others.

If she can learn the difference between Sunni and Shia she should be at the top of the ticket.

A few lessons on SENSITIVITY may also be in order. Possibly there are many who want a PITBULL for VP, but there are many of us who long for decency instead of mere attacks. However, beyond that, below is an article worth reading TITLED

"Palin’s Pitbull Problem".

Child Taken Off Life Support After Pit Bull Attack (ANCHORAGE)

This was the big news story in Alaska for several days that week (APPROX 3 WEEKS AGO).

A commenter on this blog also summed it up so well: (hat tip MH)

“Jesus was a Community Organizer, and Pontias Pilate was a Governor.”

Well, what I think is that huge oil interests must have been similar to her, coming from being a PTA mom.

I'm guessing she's a sharp cookie.

As a fellow woman, I say you're falling for the McCain "give them a female, any female, and we'll fool those voters" trick.

She is being "prepped".

She is a gimmick and knows ZERO about foreign policy.

Smart women aren't falling for it.

Do not underestimate Sarah-Barracuda.
She rises to the occasion.

She is smart, tough and ruthless.
She really DID win the governor’s office, and she DID beat Big Oil, partly because they thought she would be easy.

She is NOT. THEY LOST.

Don't misinterpret intelligence as being sarcastic and insulting. And being smart is being smart enough to know not to be sarcastic and insulting.
