Chris Matthews and Pat Buchanan took MSNBC's infighting into Round 5 Thursday afternoon on "Hardball."

When Buchanan mentioned how America should be proud of Sarah Palin as a woman, Matthews asked, "When did you become Dr. Phil?"

"After weeks of crocodile tears over Hillary Clinton, now you've become the foster father of all women politicians," he continued.

Matthews then demanded that Buchanan name a single out-of-line question Palin had received, reminding him of the show's name. When Buchanan cited questions about Palin's family life, Matthews lit up over the Republican right's treatment of the Clinton family life, and a colorful argument ensued.

"What's your problem with strong women, buddy?" Buchanan asked. "The MS in MSNBC should not stand for misogyny."

Thanks for filling us in on what's been happening on MSNBC.

I was busy watching Animal Planet, The Weather Channel and NFL Network in order to escape being overwhelmed by the GOP hate-fest.

Buchanon is Buchanon.

Fortunately for all of us, Matthews is Matthews.

When the Republicans cry "sexism" in response to criticism of Sarah Palin, the Democrats need to cry "political correctness" and throw that back in the Republicans' faces.

Sarah Palin claims to be a tough woman who can shoot and dress a moose, and who can ride a snowmobile in the deep tundra. Yet, she can't take something as simple as a few scrutinizing questions? She does know she is running for public office, right? It seems like she is trying to hide something...

Why it is being said that MSNBC is in a "meltdown" is beyond me. I love the open discussions between Olbermann, Scarborough, Matthews, and even Buchanan. I can see through them the very discussions American's are having daily about this election. I am an Obama supporter. I have tried on numerous occasions to engage in conversation with family members and friends who support the GOP. None of them will respond in any manner aside from saying they are "conservative or social conservative". They know the "Talking Points" the GOP delivers on a daily basis in a mantra like way but have NO ability to discuss any of the issues facing this country. Discourse is important even on television.

I would choose MSNBC any day over FOX and O'Reilly. I have seen enough of O'Reilly to understand fully that he is always correct, always speaks over the top of his guests to prove his intelligence and insight and is there for one reason - to degrade and attempt to humiliate his guests that have been brought before him for blood and "red meat". If anyone tries to make their point he becomes abusive.

This country is divided enough without a constant fanning of the flames.

The zeal with which the liberal MSM pursued the story of Palin's daughter's pregnancy is absolute proof that they are in the Dem corner. How many times have we now heard a liberal talking head wonder if Sarah's going to be a good mother and VP at the same time? I'm still trying to find an example of when they had similar concerns with BO's kids.

There can be no doubt that Ms. Palin is a lousy mother as is Mr. P[alin a lousy father. The real question is what kind of President would she be if McCain were elected and subsequently incapacitated.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 12:28 PM on 09/05/2008

The real question should really be the only question...what kind of president would she be? Stating there is no doubt that she as well as her husband are lousy parents is overstepping boundaries that the American voting public should not ever do. Her family life is personal and out limits and anyone who comments on them is really missing the main point. What are her policies? What was she like as a Mayor? As a Govenor? Her voting record? Her accomplishments? Laws she pushed through? These are the things we should be discussing and reviewing.

Really, well when you use the likes of Brittany Spears in an Ad, then you hire her Brittany Spears mother to be the VP Presidential Candidate, and then you say teen pregnancy is great for Republicans but not for anyone else cause those kids are getting married (which I might ad is not recipe for success) then you deserve to get those questions about the so-called Republican values if there are any at all. I mean to the Repubs, if you are a democrat and you volunteered to serve your nation, have a bronze star, a silver star and two purple hears you are still a traitor to this nation. If your limbs are blown off during a war, you are still a traitor and in cahoots with Bin Laden. It seems to me Republicans think they have the corner on patriotism and are above questioning. I think that most of us are tired of Republicans and their incredible hypocrisy, their double standards and their only plan which is to call names and divide this nation. Since when do Republicans care about issues women care about, do they care about day care, do they care about pre-k programs and adequate school lunch programs, do they really care about teen pregnancy programs, because they continuously vote against things women care about. Ahh hypocrisy, will the real Republicans please stand up?

"you say teen pregnancy is great for Republicans" Who said that?

"getting married (which I might ad is not recipe for success) " And a single parent is a recipe for success?

And as for all the other topics you ranted about, I don't have the time or desire to debate them with you, except where you lament about how Republicans "call names and divide this nation". Reread your own comment for an example of name calling and division. Thanks for playing.

Is calling someone a hypocrite really name calling? Is it like calling someone unpatriotic, a traitor, etc... please, take your talking points to redstate.com or some other place where people like you are all in agreement!

How about the zeal the MSM beat tp death the Rev Wright story? Compare that to the media totally dropping the Viki Iseman story or Cindy McCain stealing drugs from her own charity. Do you think Michelle and Barack Obama would have been cut that slack? Every step of the way the bar has been set so much lower for McCain. And I as so sick of him trotting out his POW story to guilt trip us into overlooking his general incompetence to be president.

They picked a total unknown for VP- that's news. Welcome to the real world. I think the McCain-Palin is a ticket back to the past.

Yup. I think I can garantee an Obama win now. It appears that the corporate bosses in the media have made the decision that no matter how much cover they could run, no matter how much they might bash Obama, the next administration will be democratic. So they have obviously told their folks that they can now be objective to the republican spin. Contrast this with the last 20 years.

Yes. We should be proud of anyone that shows up and give a good speech with right wing flame throwers but no substance. Yes we should all stand back and just say she's a girl and does not demand hard questions. Every man and every other person in this race have been asked about their family life. Why is Ms. Repub Beauty Queen off limits.

Buchanan is a joke. Always has been and I don't know why they keep him.

This is why I watch Hardball. Chris has a love of politics. He love this job and he calls people out on their crap whether they are a Democrat or Republican.

I think Chris might have lost just a tad of credibility when he basically said he got a b0ner from watching one of Barack's speeches.
