Chris Matthews vs. Pat Buchanan On Sarah Palin In MSNBC Round 5

Chris Matthews and Pat Buchanan took MSNBC's infighting into Round 5 Thursday afternoon on "Hardball."

When Buchanan mentioned how America should be proud of Sarah Palin as a woman, Matthews asked, "When did you become Dr. Phil?"

"After weeks of crocodile tears over Hillary Clinton, now you've become the foster father of all women politicians," he continued.

Matthews then demanded that Buchanan name a single out-of-line question Palin had received, reminding him of the show's name. When Buchanan cited questions about Palin's family life, Matthews lit up over the Republican right's treatment of the Clinton family life, and a colorful argument ensued.

"What's your problem with strong women, buddy?" Buchanan asked. "The MS in MSNBC should not stand for misogyny."

Wow, a great example of two people who are actually right about the other person's views. Matthews did not approve of Obama until the race Democratic Primary boiled down to Obama vs Clinton and Buchannan attacked not only Clinton but Geraldine Ferraro also when she ran as VP and now he wants to be the spokesperson for women. One is a catholic chauvinist who doesn't want any woman in a position of power and the other is a catholic chauvinist who doesn't want any woman in power unless she's a conservative--although I believe that Buchannan sides with her now only after he unearthed that she backed him when he ran for president.

Yeah, Pat did diss Sarah and so did Joe, but they got those famous "talking points" that afternoon,and they went to it. Sarah can now "walk on water". Sarah is a phoney. She looked amazed herself on the last night of the convention. She has a lot to carry; McCain only put people to sleep, and Repubs themselves admit that they don't particularly like him.

Maddow has the sharpest mind of any among this lot. She has a strong, clear and relevant perspective on political matters. For my money, she gets the right to host her own show by virtue of smarts, the lost art of being able to speak without shouting and the willingness and ability to listen.

American women want to hear a voice that sounds much like their own and to hear opinion expressed from the female perspective. There are way too many male and pales hosting shows. Maddow deserves a shot at this as much as any of them.

Because there is currently no single person on tv that can respond so quickly with facts and a coherent thought so quickly. The connection of her brain to her voice is unmatched anywhere on tv as far as I'm concerned. She points out hypocrisy with facts over and over immediately. Rachel Maddow is remarkable. Her analysis often leaves me stunned and her transition from radio to tv has been just about perfect.
