Chris Matthews and Pat Buchanan took MSNBC's infighting into Round 5 Thursday afternoon on "Hardball."

When Buchanan mentioned how America should be proud of Sarah Palin as a woman, Matthews asked, "When did you become Dr. Phil?"

"After weeks of crocodile tears over Hillary Clinton, now you've become the foster father of all women politicians," he continued.

Matthews then demanded that Buchanan name a single out-of-line question Palin had received, reminding him of the show's name. When Buchanan cited questions about Palin's family life, Matthews lit up over the Republican right's treatment of the Clinton family life, and a colorful argument ensued.

"What's your problem with strong women, buddy?" Buchanan asked. "The MS in MSNBC should not stand for misogyny."

Boy it was great for once to see Chris take the right on. They are the ones that started getting into private matters. Am sick and tired of these people always blaming the messenger. Day in and day out talk radio trashes the left. They are so afraid that when the democratics finally win back the house they are worried that the FCC will finally have to start being fair and balanced. I don't listen to talk radio were I live because you only get stations with speakers on the right. You can't talk with them because they cut you off and hang up before you even have a chance to respond.

Watch the Daily Show from last night. He shows clips of the right wing pundits criticizing Hillary for calling sexism and then the same pundits crying sexism regarding Sarah. John Stewart does it better than anyone.

That was as close to perfect as I have seen the Daily Show - totally frikkin hilarious! I was so down over how negative the VP nominee's speech was, and Jon just perked me right up! I loved the two-faced exposure of the party supporters' saying one thing about the candidates and the complete opposite about the other party's candidates. Everyone should see it!

That is why Jon Stewart is the most trusted man in the US. Why didn't we see any of these clips on the main stream "elite" media?

After hearing Pat Buchanan refer to Barack Obama as Kenya one night, there is nothing that this man can say that A) doesn't surprise me B) doesn't make me cringe (except when he oooh'd and aaah'd over Obama's speech then I almost fell on the floor) and C) doesn't reek of hypocrisy.

I'm tired of people talking about how Hillary Clinton was treated. She lied several times and played up to the racist tendencies of America in her criticisms of Obama, then placed the sexism card when the media called her on it, just as Republicans are doing now that the media is criticizing Palin. Chris Mathews did say a few things that could be considered sexist, Shuster made a verbal gaff too, but from there the Clintonistas lumped Olbermann, MSNBC, and other networks into the mix, exaggerating the whole issue. Now Pat Buchanan is firing the same shots now except with far less ammo. It won't work this time either.

BTW, Pat: 'misogyny' is one word. "M-S" implies there are two words... If you're going to throw a dis, come with some heat.

It was Hillary who injected race in the race and now our party is paying for it.

I don't know what that was done, the Clinton's are anything but racist. And you can see that HRC is much smarter and better able than this shill in the GOP.

Chris was right on this one. Rethugs shouldn't yell foul when legitimate questions are being asked. However, Chris loses his cred with the fact he did make some sexist comments during the primaries. Pat is a disgusting joke bottom linel. I can't believe he gets paid for spewing his bs.

I'm with Mathews on this one...the name of the program is Hardball and if you want to be equal to the guys you have to take the heat just like they do.

Otherwise get out of the game.

Pat Buchanan seriously thinks he understands feminism? or women? Pat Buchanan?
I am sorry criticizing Sarah Palin isn't sexist or elitist it's sane.

yes criticizing her policies is fine, but I have heard her children demeaned, the role of a working mother demeaned, her voice ridiculed, she's been mocked for being a beauty queen, the sexism is rampant, and disgusting. It's such a turnoff to watch Obama and his supporters demean women, I'll be going third party. When you start questing whether women who work can be good parents, I don't want to be part of that party. First it was HIllary Clinton and now it's Sarah Palin, what does Obama have against strong women. I have news for my former party, women can work and be excellent mothers.

As usual Pat Buchanan is wrong and I'm glad Mathews went after him on it. He says things just to put it out there Buchanan does and he is not as much an independant as a far right conservative. A quote from Alaskan blog entry ........"If women are going to play with the big boys, then motherhood needs to come down off it's pedestal".....This woman is not superwoman, when all her positions in government mayoral or governing, she was asked to resign and once staffers discussed impeachment". That is a concern to me, to all voters and should be followed through.
