Cindy McCain's Monday Night Outfit Cost $300,000

One of the persistent memes in the Republican line of attack against Barack Obama is the notion that he is an elitist, whereas the G.O.P. represent real working Americans like Levi "F-in' Redneck" Johnston.

It caught our attention, then, when First Lady Laura Bush and would-be First Lady Cindy McCain took the stage Tuesday night wearing some rather fancy designer clothes. So we asked our fashion department to price out their outfits.

I do not despise people for being rich. I do despise them for so much wastage and flamboyance. Mrs McCain should have gone to K-Mart to purchase a suit that would have looked just as nice, but cost some $299,000 less, and change. And instead of sleeping good like she did after the purchase of that $300,000 outfit, she could have stayed up all night worrying about how best to donate to charity all of that money she saved by listening to me.

Cindy needs to spend some money on a colorist. Her dresses fit well, and the colors are good, they are just too bright for her. If she took the gold of this dress and the lime green of yesterdays and tamped them down about three tones, she would look great.

As for Laura, how much did she spend on her bra? From the look of things, obviously, not enough.

No, actually, the middle class doesn't get smaller, we keep redefining the class income levels and what we now call middle class used to be called upper middle and what we now call lower class used to be called middle. While it's true that the large number of wives who are in the workforce is a major component, household or family incomes are far higher today than they were years ago and what we consider necessities today used to be luxuries or weren't even in existence, such as cell phones, internet connections and computers.
