Ad about nothing

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 12:26 PM on 09/06/2008

Can we assume you're not familiar with the premise of the Seinfeld Show?

The ad was not only funny, it humanized one of the wealthiest people on the planet.

Uh, which was a show about nothing?

You're an idiot . . .

Bill Gates buying pleather shoes humanized one of the wealthiest people on the planet? Geez! So much for the Gates Foundation and all of its good work around the world.

Why did BG start a foundation when all he had to do to get humanized is call a stupid ad agency to put him in a pointless commerical (whose only purpose is to sell you more sh*t you don't need to live a happy and fulfilling life) with a comedian whose show went dark 10 years ago . . . two years after it had already jumped the shark?

Wow that was staggeringly bad.

Wearing shoes in the shower and underwear jokes are funny to you?

What are you: four years old?

I could care less about the ad. What is funny is all the hating of Microsoft and Bill Gates. Bill Gates - probably the greatest philanthropist of our time and one of the top in history. But he's EVIL. Why? Because he started Microsoft! And Windows - 90 to 95% of all pcs? And Office? - the thing that turned buisness and industry digital. Anyone remember WordPerfect? Lotus 123? Havard Graphics? Netscape? They were so much better!
Oh but Apple and Macs are so much cooler - their ads proves that! Yeah but that coolness factor does carry a price tag with doesn't it? I can buy a windows laptop at the suburban strip BestBuy or Office Depot for $500 or basicly the same thing but as a Macbook for $3000 at the Mac Store in the chic mall. For what? So I can go to Starbucks, post a comment on Huff Po and look real hip? I think this link summed it up pretty well - http://stuffwhitepeoplelike.com/2008/01/30/39-apple-products/

This is the counter to Apple's Mac vs PC ads? It must be a teaser to a larger campaign. Maybe they are going to tell us a "story". American's love a story, like a plain old beauty queen and hockey mom who delivers well written divisive lines and America falls in love with. They can package any crap (Vista/Palin) and American's will buy into it.

ENOUGH!

Enough is right! How 'bout giving Apple users, Starbuck's drinkers and supporters of Obama their own country. They insufferable.

Microsoft and Jerry Sinfield. Never have two losers deserved each other more. A prefect match.

RoseMerry feels Seinfeld and Gates are "losers."

Makes one wonder who she would consider a "winner."

What hoot.

hmmm . . . I don't know but let me guess: someone with integrity who actually contributed something good and lasting to the world and whose main motive wasn't monopoly and profit based on a severely flawed product like Vista?

Nelson Mandela, for example?

Having done two contracts at Microsoft, this ad amazingly parrots its culture: humorless, a strong sense of self-importance, and mis-focused. As this ad goes, so goes the company.

Yeah, Microsoft is in BIG trouble. Especially considering they provide the platforms for about 90% of the world's computer systems.

I bet they're shaking in their boots right now.

why would they be 'shaking'? They HAVE their OS on 90% of the world? It's not like they're Novell or some GUI-Unix OS that can't buy a customer.

I truly hate the experience I had trying to convert to Vista. Never again.
Gates would have been a whole lot better off trying to fix Vista, than trying to sell Vista to those suckers who haven't been let down by it yet.

WHY did you convert to Vista? Did you NEED it or WANT it? Was your current OS working for you? I'd seriously like to know.

I work for Microsoft and I don't even know what the f*ck this add is trying to sell me.

I thought it was just me, but I don't get it all - with this commercial.
Perhaps it's a "tease" for when the real ones start running.

Well, Jerry Steinfeld is laughing all the way to his many banks.

If you can't figure out the ad you don't deserve to be working at Microsoft.

Why not quit and get yourself a job with Sprint?

I wanted to say that, but thanks, you did it for me. Maybe that's why the next MS OS is embracing and promoting touch-screen technology. As if there's a clamor in the streets for touch screens. jeese

I was waiting for the *blue screen of death* to end this commercial early. Now, that would have been funny!

Oh, by the way, what was it they were selling?

Why is that the billionaires (and high millionaires) need to play-act as "average Joes"?

This is one of the suckiest ads I've ever seen.

Gates should stick with what he does well: transitioning the world's wealth into his bulging pockets. And Seinfeld should do the same: Find new ways of packaging the same old product (his shows) at ever-higher prices.
