I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Habitat

The McCain campaign sent out a press release this morning, announcing a schedule change:

ARLINGTON, VA -- U.S. Senator John McCain's presidential campaign today announced that the McCain family's appearance at the Twin Cities Habitat For Humanity build site on Thursday, September 4, 2008 has been canceled.

My partner in vlog, Ana Marie Cox, made quick note of the change, twittering:

How anti-press is the McCain campaign? They just canceled a Habitat for Humanity PHOTO OP. Because it has to do with "houses"? Go figure!

Indeed. How could McCain maintain his sense of press victimization against the backdrop of people building homes for people who look forward to being able to one day say, "I know exactly how many homes I own! One! Just the one!"

But another part of the reason McCain canceled the outing is because last night, his campaign went out of its way to slag community organizers, defaming them for not having any "actual responsibilities." Habitat For Humanity, as it happens, is one of the biggest brand names in community organizing -- they maintain a massive network of individual donors, are capable of mobilizing an equally impressive volunteer base to contribute labor to the cause, and have a global reach. It's not a bad idea at all to associate one's own brand with Habitat's. But after last night, I have to imagine that McCain would have found it difficult to face the community organizers of Habitat For Humanity.

And now, a special message for Governor Sarah Palin:

The McCain campaign sent out a press release this morning, announcing a schedule change: ARLINGTON, VA -- U.S. Senator John McCain's presidential campaign today announced that the McCain family's app...

You go girl! Love your message to Gov. fakin' Palin.

Hey, I like that tag - fakin' Palin. Fits just right.

Not as good as one of my fellow posters had for the GOP (Greed Over Principle), that was brilliant!!

Read this article - it's work it.

Earlier in PA today, O b a m a held a press conference.

He basically didn't take the bait and was calm and cool as usual

when asked why he wouldn't attack Palin he said that he's running for president against John mccain

also he said that he's been called worse on the basketball court and it's not a big deal

said he believes she wants to be treated equally and she's only been vetted for 4 days...while he's been scrutinized for 19 months

Thanks for the tidbit, bb4p!!

When I start getting worked up, I stop and remember Obama does the work while I, and seemingly a few other, do the worrying.

I think the community service is the first of many backfires to come. That much hate can chew away at your entire being.

PTA = Community Organization

Campaign field offices = Community Organization

Church = Community Organization

4-H, Girl/Boys Clubs, One Peace (anti-gang), NAACP, Rainbow Push

Get that moose hoof out your mouth, McMaverick

But according to Palin's speech, Mccain trumps Obama because he DOES important things and not just TALKS about them right?

So why won't he DO what he SAID he would?

As a community organizer and volunteer I hope that this takes off. Doing hard work for free to help less fortunate folks in my community I have found to be personally rewarding, but I rarely find it to be funny and or meaningless as it was portrayed to be last night. Please visit this site put up by community organizers and make a comment....

It wasn't just Sarah Palin. Almost down the line, the speakers at the RNC have had a very ugly divisive tone. It's a stark contrast against the DNC which on the whole, was much more positive ... I feel there MUST be a lot of independents out there who have been really turned off by all this ugliness ...

The Republican Party of the Sadducees"

The Sadducees - During the time of Christ and the New Testament era, those who were Sadducees were aristocrats. They tended to be wealthy and held powerful positions, including that of chief priests, the position of high priest, and they held the majority of the 70 seats of the ruling council called the Sanhedrin. They worked very hard to keep the peace by going along with the decisions of Rome (Israel at this time was under Roman control), and in fact they seemed to be more concerned with politics than religion. Because they were accommodating to Rome, and the fact that they were wealthy upper class, they did not relate well to the common man nor did the common man hold them in high opinion. The common man related better to those who belonged to the party of the Pharisees. Though the Sadducees held the majority of seats in the Sanhedrin, history indicates that much of the time they had to go along with the ideas of the Pharisaical minority, again because the Pharisees were popular with the masses.

I guess some people are too stupid to realize she was dissing them by doing volunteer work in the community.

Outstanding response! This discounting of the value of community organizers is going to very much bite them on their posteriors. Make sure you click through on this video and rate it for YouTube so that surfers that don't find it here have a chance to see it there.

What Mrs. Palin and others didn't grasp about Sen. O.'s history is that he COULD have landed a cushy six figure a year job with his credentials, but instead chose to serve and fight for the community that he lived in. The genuine elitists will NEVER get it!
