No Flag Pin For McCain

These topics are trivial in the long run. And Democrats would be hard pressed to make an issue out of this when they've been bemoaning the use of it against Barack Obama. But the McCain campaign made a small but significant tactical mistake tonight when they sent their candidate out to speak without adorning a flag pin.

The "he-doesn't-wear-a-flag-pin" charge works only in the context of a larger attack on that candidate's patriotism. And in this election, McCain will almost assuredly never be charged of not exhibiting a requisite amount of love for country (did someone say "country first"?). But those critics of Obama who have highlighted the absence of a pin on his lapel now have little to zero ammunition on this front.

Oh jeezus, did you have to bring up Dobbs ? I used to watch that guy religiously when he was defending Campeon and Ramos but not anymore. He's like O'Reilly ; never misses an opportunity to slam Obama. And he calls himself an Independent. Yeah, right !!

I disagree there is 'zero ammunition' to go after Obama. All you need to do is show how his reverend said "God Damn America," his wife said "I have never been proud," and his buddy the domestic terrorist has never been disavowed.

There is a difference between not wearing a flag pin on an occasion and refusing to wear on on any occasion.

I question his patriotism now. Before, with the lapel pin, I had no doubts. Now I think he probably really was turned by the Viet Cong, and really is the Machurian Candidate. Wow - a chill just ran down my spine. I better vote for Obama - at least he was born in this country.

This was poor judement not to wear the lapel pin upon his acceptance of the republican nomination. This man, who deeply loves his country, forgot to wear it. Maybe it even slipped his mind. Will one of the staff please go get it for him since he can't remember where it is. Vote Obama/Biden in 08.

That is hillarious!!! The right made such a big deal about that. If you don't sleep with a flag pin, you are not patriotic and McCain, in the biggest speech of his life, forgot to wear one!!!! I personally think the whole flag pin thing is stupid and irrelevant but doesn't it just make you feel all warm and fuzzy. We'll see what the Rep. say about this goof up.

Write to HuffingtonPost and complain about GOP biais

1) In the Politics section, only one democrat has a top tag section linking to him: Barack Obama

Sarah Palin, Cindy McCain, Rudy Giuliani have top tags coverage

Joe Biden despite being the democratic VP has none; Hillary Clinton despite having 18 million votes in primaries have none

2) In the Big News Page, Joe Biden again is absent, while primary losers Mitt Romney is present. So are Joe Lieberman and Karl Rove.
