UPDATE: Barack Obama's campaign met its expected $10 million dollar mark:

Barack Obama's presidential campaign said it raised $10 million Thursday following the Republican National Convention speech by rival John McCain's running mate, Sarah Palin.

Obama spokesman Bill Burton said Palin's address, heavily laced with digs at Obama, prompted an outpouring of donations from more than 130,000 donors.

The political impact of Sarah Palin continues to be hazy -- she's clearly revved up the Republican base, and helped McCain's campaign bring in more than $8 million since she was announced as his running mate.

But the Palin pick seems to be having a virtually identical effect on the Democratic base. Activists have frenetically picked apart Palin's record over the last week, and an Obama aide told the Huffington Post that the campaign has raised $8 million since her speech last night "from over 130,000 donors - on pace to hit $10 million by the time John McCain hits the stage tonight."

"Sarah Palin's attacks have rallied our supporters in ways we never expected," the aide said. "And we fully expect John McCain's attacks tonight to help us make our grassroots organization even stronger."

UPDATE: The Republican National Committee says it has raised $1 million since Palin's speech.

I’m voting Republican because freedom of speech is fine as long as you don’t criticize George Bush or the military.

I’m voting Republican because the solution to every foreign policy problem is war

I’m voting Republican because I believe that scientists are morons and nature is my bitch.

I’m voting Republican because I’m more concerned about protecting fetuses than living, breathing human beings.

For the 3rd time this week I wake up in the morning to find someone has dug huge holes in my lawn surrounding my Obama sign. To top it off I watch all this crap at the RNC , am I taking my sign down? No, I gave $15 yesterday and $10 today. It isnt much but it is what I can do. Sooner or later I will catch the jerks doing this to me and Obama will stop the jerks wrecking our country. Everybody, give what you can!

No turning back now. Besides I really want to come back on November 5th after he is elected to see what the Tr00//s have to say then.

Hey..don't you dare say $10 or $15 isn't much!! I so respect the stance you've taken: not to be cowed by some bullies. We're all in this together and everyone and every donation counts.

What I could do is allow you to use my pitbull cosmo (female), put some red lipstick on her and post her up near the sign, we'll see how much them bastards like Sarah..

I wish I could take you up on that! I have no balcony and refuse to move the sign to a place where it won't be seen. This is the first time I have ever had the guts to place a political sign in my yard. I refuse to be intimidated, just surprized that this is happening in the "liberal" San Francisco bay area! Seriously, all they are doing is making me more determined! Obama/Biden 08- everyone donate what you can!

I donated after Palin speech. I think she is very formidable, not because of her background or intelligence. She will be very appealing to a big portion of America. She has an all-American woman appeal. And people who are ignorant of her belief will see her as one of them.

We cannot let this happen. I hope they use the money for more ad against Palin.

The all American appeal is gone. America has forever changed. If people see her as the future then the light of this country will certainly dim.

Die-hard, angry racist, uber-wealthy and wannabe wealthy reich-and right-wingers will vote anything Repub - even a monkey. They're the party of "fall in line" remember?

But to win the election, candidates must rely on Independents; the ones less informed and in the middle. They are the ones that sway the election either way (aside from the SCOTUS and Diebold machines in Repub-heavy districts).

Obama's got the Indenpendents and now over 4 million young voters. Not to mention, the Obama campaign have been working the INS offices signing up newly minted American citizens to vote! Pretty savvy, huh?

Palin only appeals to Repubs and they are in the minority, remember? They've BEEN in the minority ever since 1996 when Bill won his second term this time without the help of Perot.

Obama/Biden '08/'12!!

I’m voting Republican because I think “equal protection” only applies to straight people; gays are icky and have to do what the churches tell them to do. I’m voting Republican because I understand that what strangers do in their bedroom has a profound effect on my personal salvation through Jesus Christ, and therefore I lose sleep over it.

I’m voting Republican because I believe we should drain every last drop ofoil out of the Earth before we even think about new forms of energy or conservation. It’s our God-given right as Americans to plunder the planet and leave our grandkids nothing!

I'm voting Republican because war is cool

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 12:58 PM on 09/05/2008

Just donated more to Obama....

From a good friend of mine in California.....

A response to the infamous and libelous (and not very clever) "why I'm voting Democrat", which is making the internet rounds right now...

Why I'm voting Republican

I’m voting Republican because I believe the working man should pay more than his boss in taxes.

I’m voting Republican because I believe the Bill of Rights only applies to people I like, and that the police never arrest an innocent man.

I’m voting Republican because I believe multinational corporations have my best interests at heart and therefore should run the government - and the world.

I’m voting Republican because I believe there is only one possible interpretation of the Constitution and it’s whatever Antonin Scalia says it is.

I’m voting Republican because I believe that Arabs and Muslims are less than human and think about nothing all day but killing me. I’m voting Republican because eventually we will kill all the bad guys and live happily ever after. (con't)

Obama Brownie moment:

"Kilpatrick is a Democratic super-delegate whom Barack Obama has praised as 'doing an outstanding job'."

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9hKBQ2adASc

Today:

"In a courtroom this morning, Kilpatrick pleaded guilty to two felony counts of obstructing justice by committing perjury. He will spend four months in jail, pay up to $1 million in restitution, and serve five years' probation. He also agreed not to run for office during that five-year span."

So you are saying that Obama is responsible for Kilpatrick? Well, that makes McCain responsible for George Bush and his slaughter of the economy and american lives for the past 8 years--sorry I don't have a pic of him hugging Bush and voting with him 90% of the time; but I am sure you can find the pic on utube. Also, that would make his running mate, Sarah Palin responsible for her and her husband being part of a party that wants to be seperate from the United States. Get real.

You fun-loving Liberals make my day with your panicked, lame accusation of how Palin isn't this, and Palin isn't that and she wasn't vetted (you learn a new word) properly blah, blah, blah. Let me tell you, it's only going to get worse for you. Maybe the vetting process should have started with Obama and Resko or Obama and William Ayers? NOBODY on any blog, or in any article, or from camp Obama has ever given an even remotely believable answer to the question of his relations with these people. Unfortunately somewhere along the line (before November) Obama's going to have to come up with some kind of answer for these questionable ties to domestic terrorism and corruption on a local level in Illinois. Hey, thanks for choosing Biden.

Obama was 8 years old when Ayers was being a radical.

Why dont you fire the University officials who hired Ayres and stop sending your children to that University instead of being angry with Obama for being on a BOARD with Ayres.

Why not stop supporting the group that put AYRES on the BOARD?

Why not burn down the school that AYRES children go to? That is the only other place Obama has met Ayres.

And why not point out Abramoff who is John's big friend now in jail - also The KEATING FIVE? REMEMBER THEM _ JOHN Was not their FRIEND - HE WAS ONE OF THEM>

It's not just her husband. According to one of their leaders, she was a member, though they deny it now. Why would they have said it to begin with? Not only does he say she was a member, but he talks about how they need to infiltrate the existing political structure.

The MSM is being really negligent in not showing the video on TV for all to see. Instead they take the Repubs answer that she wasn't a member as truth - we know what honest people they are.

When O said he wasn't in church for Wright's sermons, it didn't stop them from playing those videos over and over again.

http://www.wogsland.org/bradley/

It's obvious to anyone with a brain that these are not just coincidences:

1) Her husband was a member.
2) She makes a welcome video for the AIP in which she talks about shared objectives and Alaska's independence and it's constitution.
3) At one of their conventions, a speaker talks of her membership.
4) She talks about how beneficial it would be to Alaska if she were to be VP.

To all the Republicans who post on here talking about the smell of Democrat fear: no, that's the roar of all the "little people" getting pissed off. And it'll get louder, too.

And if you don't think Rove, Schmitt and Co. have their panties in a bunch this morning looking at the disparity in fundraising over the last two days, you don't know Republicans very well. Because if there's one thing Republicans understand (actually, it's the ONLY thing Republicans understand), it's money.
