UPDATE: Barack Obama's campaign met its expected $10 million dollar mark:

Barack Obama's presidential campaign said it raised $10 million Thursday following the Republican National Convention speech by rival John McCain's running mate, Sarah Palin.

Obama spokesman Bill Burton said Palin's address, heavily laced with digs at Obama, prompted an outpouring of donations from more than 130,000 donors.

The political impact of Sarah Palin continues to be hazy -- she's clearly revved up the Republican base, and helped McCain's campaign bring in more than $8 million since she was announced as his running mate.

But the Palin pick seems to be having a virtually identical effect on the Democratic base. Activists have frenetically picked apart Palin's record over the last week, and an Obama aide told the Huffington Post that the campaign has raised $8 million since her speech last night "from over 130,000 donors - on pace to hit $10 million by the time John McCain hits the stage tonight."

"Sarah Palin's attacks have rallied our supporters in ways we never expected," the aide said. "And we fully expect John McCain's attacks tonight to help us make our grassroots organization even stronger."

UPDATE: The Republican National Committee says it has raised $1 million since Palin's speech.

$50 yesterday, $50 more today, canvassed last weekend. I also volunteer to do campaign database work, so far I have updated approximately 18,000 records and entered several hundred new voter registrations. We have to make this happen folks and just 'hoping' won't do it, neither will getting mad at the opposition. Get out there and get involved, if you don't care enough to do it for yourself, do it for your kids, your grandkids, your neighbors kids, whatever.. Just don't squander this opportunity, it might be the last one we have.

I don't have the time to spare at this point, 2 sleepy. I'm a two job working gal (one full and one part-time) who is 3 weeks away from a fundraiser for breast cancer that I co-founded in 2005. It's a great event called Rocktoberfest and our organization is called Rockin' for a Reason (check us out at www.rockinforareason.org). Yes, folks, that's called self-promotion.

Anyways, my point being I have donated money to the campaign until I have the time to spare in October. I had given $500 prior to now and donated another $100 after McCain's speech tonight. I guess you might say I'm working for Obama, just in a different way :-)

I can see why she appeals to certain people. And those people would scare me if this was 8 yrs ago, but after 8 yrs of what we've been through, I ain't afraid of no gun-totin' direct-line-to-God hocky mama from a place as far-removed from middle America as you can get. She comes across as small-minded, self-serving, and conceited. Not to mention just plain RUDE.

And.....If they don't want families dragged into the fray, stop shoving them in our faces! I'm really sick of her going on & on about what a great mother she is. None of the other candidates go on & on about what great dads they are. Isn't she relying on sexist mentality there, appealing to some over her motherhood wings rather than national issues? Gimme a break.

I'm sorry but I just can't stand the people who support him. They're consistently the most rude, hostile, arrogant, intolerant bullies around. In this discussion people are called stupid or the C word or bullied just for having an opinion and I simply don't see this as much with people who support the other candidates.

And I think to myself "what is it about this candidate that brings out the worst in people? What is it about him that does that?"

I won't vote for JC or SP but it's very possible I vote at all this election.

NicoleAnon,

Don't worry about what people on here say or do.
I'm guilty of it myself sometimes because I get reallly ticked at some of the dumb stuff the republicans say on here.
But you vote in your best interest. Vote for you......whoever you think best represents you and what you want your country to be and the direction you want it to go.

I can assure you, Obama would be appalled at what is said around here on his behalf.
I just hope he isn't reading any of it.!
He would not approve.
Passions are high.......there's a lot at stake.

I wouldn't let a few internet bozos keep you from voting in this important election.

You aren't voting for bloggers, you are voting for your country.

As obama said, it isn't about him it is about our future.

Sarah Palin is Dick Cheney in a dress. I have given another $100 to the Obama's campaign to fight the lies and arrogance contained in Sarah Palin's speech. I invite everybody who can to give as much as they can. The country is in danger! ... and I place the country first!

I would love to be just another one of the people who listened to Sarah Palin and realized that we must vote Obama/Biden.

You are NOT an agent of change when you are on the McCain/Palin ticket and Sarah Palin is being trained on foreign affairs by George W. Bush's foreign affairs advisors.

8 Years of Bush is enough...It is time for Real change, Obama-Biden is the only real change being offered.

I was so thoroughly angered and disgusted by Palin and the Rethuglican speeches Wednesday night that I immediately donated $100 to BO's campaign, with more donations to come until the GE! After Wednesday last night, I personally urge all Obama supporters to do the same until the GE. Americans, let's not be made fools of again and again and again by the Rethugs. The whole world is watching!

Please, I implore all of you to donate to the Obama Campaign whatever you can spare and please do it immediately. Let’s show the Rethuglicans we’re not afraid of their latest gimmicks just to win an election. Also, please look into your state areas for the nearest Obama Campaign office. Please get involved. Volunteer a little of your time if you can. See what you can do and how you can help. The Rethuglicans once again are depending on us to be a Nation of imbeciles and bleating sheep being led to slaughter once again. Let us all disappoint and thwart them come Election Day. No more Rethuglican rule of this country for another 4 to 8 years!

I've been donating since the Iowa Caucus. Just gave another 50 today.

My daughter is going to donate for the first time. She's giving up her 10th anniversary present from her hubby and is sending the money to O instead.
That's my girl!!
I really think he'll still give her a nice gift.

Sarah Palin only energizes right wing white women....

I'm sorry, as a black woman, I cannot connect with ANYTHING she has to say... I live in a suburban neighborhood.... but I damn sure don't hunt moose, and I don't like hockey....

How are minority women supposed to relate to her????

What a waste of a pick she is.... being an INDY, I am proud of the DEMOCRATIC party for showing true diversity.... they truly represent AMERICA....one big melting pot...

The RNC looks like a rich, white man's club! The DNC has whites, blacks, hispanics, asians.... its beautiful.... thats why I am SOOOOO proud to donate my money, and vote for OBAMA/BIDEN!!!

More than money, I suggest that we all campaign for Barack. If you live in a community, schedule visiting even just one to two houses a day. Come election time, that would be 60 households! This is especially true in rural America.

It would help to bring whisky and a bible with you while you're at it. This may be pandering, but not all people in America have a college education; many of them vote for the GOP simply because it's what their priest or pastor or Rush Limbaugh told them to do.

If every Obama supporter does that, there's no doubt he would win!

Make phone calls. You can sign up to do that on O's webpage.
Just put in your area code and phone number and they give you a script and numbers in your calling area to call.
Easy as that...........and safe.
