Palin Teleprompter Didn't Break

Politico:

Sarah Palin delivered a powerful speech last night, but she did not "wing it."

That is what Erick Erickson, citing sources close to McCain, has written on his blog, RedState.

Erickson writes that "the teleprompter continued scrolling during applause breaks. As a result, half way through the speech, the speech had scrolled significantly from where Governor Palin was in the speech."

This claim has been picked up on Drudge and could quickly enter into the insta-mythmaking about a speech that need not be embroidered.

I listened to the entire speech last night on the Huffington Post and followed along reading the pre-released transcript and she read it word for word except for the part about the Pit Bull. That was not in the written speech.

Every time I saw the teleprompter it was properly calibrated. I was actually suprised MSNBC showed it, but I'm glad they did.

These people LIE when the truth is good. Palin delivered the speech well, even if it was full of lies and misrepresentations. McSame will pale in comparison.

I was thinking the same thing. He walked around the stage and gave the speech. He maintained eye contact with the audience. Unless he has an extra pair of eyes on his hand I couldn't see how he managed to read and maintain eye contact with the audience.

I was at a live event just outside of Columbus, Ohio. He gave a 40 minute speech with NO prompters.

I can't believe all the hoop-la over this speech. Yes she delivered very well, but if you were looking for her stance on anything other than being a hockey mom, you have to be let down. Everything that she spoke about as far as her credentials have been proven mostly false and everything else was scripted for her. Now I read were some Bushies were coaching her on foriegn policy. With her one heartbeat away, I only hope she doesn't help McCain get elected on what they teach her to say and he dies and her true desire is to nuke someone. I come away from this as she is not mindless but will soon be brain washed. Please lady, tell these people you have a mind and some pride and deliver your true feelings and let the american people decide. You are looking less qualified to me all the time.

Seeing that teleprompter was the best. Now everyone can stop acting like only Senator Obama uses it. Hopefully they won't use this little malfunction as an excuse to get out of putting McCain in front of it. We know how they dread it. Just this morning on one of the news shows someone made a statement about McCain not being comfortable about addressing lots of people. How do they expect McCain to stand before millions if he can't handle a few thousand?

What most seem to be missing is that Obama writes his own speeches and doesn't have to be led phonetically through them like Barbie...

Caribou Barbie - I love it!! Being literate doesn't mean you're qualified to be VP. That woman scares me. However, I was incredibly impressed by Obama's speech last week. I remember watching it and we were commenting about how he had obviously memorized his entire speech. Very impressive. I think I'm going to like having an intelligent president for a change!
