Andrea Mitchell Attacked By RNC Balloons (VIDEO)

Immediately following John McCain's speech on Thursday night at the RNC, NBC's Andrea Mitchell was attacked by falling balloons while on the floor of the convention center. Attempting to do a hit for Keith Olbermann on MSNBC, Mitchell fought off a never-ending stream of red, white and blue mylar as she bravely gave her report. Moments later her colleagues Tom Brokaw and Brian Williams complimented her reporting skills in the face of such adversity. The balloons remained a joke for segments to come:

The CNN anchors also joked about the balloons, with Anderson Cooper teasing Wolf Blitzer that there was a giant balloon intentionally aimed at him for being a "member of the elite media," a joke which Cooper recycled throughout the rest of the night:

Andrea Mitchell needs to be attacked by the truth squad. Her history of half truths and blatant omission of facts is off the the journalistic ethics map. Media Matters is littered with her track record of convenient half truths and omissions. In fact, her record is perilously close to that of Fixed News and right wing talk radio. I am in know way implying that she is a bloviating right winger, but rather she simply can't get the facts right or just omits them. A simple search on Media Matters by typing in her name will be revealing to people who have been taking her commentary at face value.

I can't agree more with your assessment of Andrea Mitchell as a partisan reporter . In that light that is precisely why her attack upon the McCain crowd when they tried to assert the argument that Obama refused to visit the military hospitals in Germany because 'they would not allow the press to attend" When she called it a "lie"" I was there and this is not what happened" I remarked following her statement:" when McCain loses Andrea Mitchell they are finished", still stands. I hope she also has a second revelation that the McCain ATTACKS AGAINST THE "ELITE MEDIA" ARE ALSO LIES. Lets face it her career as a journalist, would be very brief indeed were she married to some average joe.

That was a great example of the RNC trying to cover for the lack of celebratory people on the convention floor. More balloons then people.

Mich trying to talk about McCain experience in Hanoi while being shut down by those balloons was very telling. The Balloons are even tired of hearing about him being a POW.

Could you be a bit more specific about how the left, left you? Otherwise, your comment is just a cheap gimmick indicative of the right. I am especially interested because the right has only a few mantras: Cut regulation on business, but impose it on the people by restricting choice. Cut taxes on the wealthy and corporations and give the midlle class the alternative minimum tax. They are concerned about climate change, so drill baby drill. We will give you peace through war. We will give you guns instead of butter. We will borrow from China so that we can buy oil from the Middle East instead of investing in energy efficiency amd aleternative energy. We will not ask American's to sacrifice because we can borrow the money for war from China and pay them compound interest on the debt. The economy is fundamentally sound because we deregulated the banking industry in order to loan Bear Sterns $30 billion from the Federal Reserve Piggy Bank. Welcome to the right. I wonder if Sen. McCain obtained permission from Earth Wind and Fire , for usage of their song in this video at RNC? Or is it one of the many artists that John McCain used copyrighted material for promoting his campaign without their permission. Sen. McCain also infringed copyrights from other artists, such as, Jackson Browne, who filed a lawsuit against John McCain, John Mellencamp and Van Halen were some of the angry musicains, all have followed up complaining, some filing a lawsuit and stating they do not support Sen. McCain or his policies.

Just because you buy a CD, that does not give you broadcast rights to the media. I'm not a fan of the RIAA, but I understand their reasoning. it is similar to showing a purchased home-use DVD at a movie theatre filled with patrons, which is also not allowed.

A presidential contender should know and understand that.
