Bloggingheads TV: McCain's No Feminist (VIDEO)

A recent discussion between Mark Kleiman of The Reality-Based Community and Megan McArdle The Atlantic.com brought to light some of the more disturbing aspects of John McCain's relationship with women including a crude joke he once made about Chelsea Clinton. McArdle says at one point, "He treated his first wife appallingly... he seems to think that he's supposed to act like he's 22 for the rest of his life."

Great start for McCain general election campaign; Sarah Palin fed him a bunch of lies, and he is using those lies to win an election, yet this man professes Duty, Honor, Country??? If he truly is about the above three, he would not be perpetuating lies on the campaign trail

Here are just two examples of xLIES, from yesterday's townhall meeting in Wisconsin:

1. LIE number one: Sarah Palin sold the luxury jet used by the former Governor, and made a profit (Fact: The jet was sold to a contributor, at a loss).

2. LIE number two: Obama NEVER worked across the aisle in a bipartisan way (McCain knows that Obama worked across the aisle, and yet he LIES about...

It is becoming very clear that McCain is NOT about Duty, Hornor and Country, but he is ALL about Pandering, Lying and Ambitious, Period. Worse than Bush/Cheney...

Bush and McCain are old and really old men who never grew up. Bush has PLAYED president for 7 1/2+ years, and McCain wants to PLAY president for 4 years, so it makes sense that he chooses a running mate who has PLAYED governor of AK and PLAYED mayor of a town. The difference between PLAYING and BEING a leader is a desire to BETTER the communities of Americans vs. stalking the halls of power drunk on a super-sized helping of ego. Obama and Biden lack the ego trip vibe I get from McCain and Palin. The former are exceptional men looking forward to turn the nation around, the latter are looking forward to inauguration day.

"Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly? Janet Reno is her father."

I still don't know why this and the one about the gorilla rapist (victim left to die and asking, "Where is that marvelous gorilla?") are even referred to as jokes, at least without quotation marks. McCain should be excoriated for his misogyny specifically and misanthropy generally. Maybe his development really was arrested when he was shot down, even though that act predates his "Dancing Queen" defense by years.

She is not ugly, she's not cookie cutter pretty but I would not call her ugly at all, I think she is quite attractive. Of course, McCain never said that Chelsea was being pimped out by her mom they way some folks did.
