Crains New York:

Bam! Ten more books.

Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia Inc., which owns the rights to the Emeril Lagasse franchise of books, television shows and kitchen products, on Thursday announced a 10-book deal between the celebrity chef and publisher HarperCollins.

Under the multi-year agreement, Mr. Lagasse is set to release his first book--with a focus on indoor and outdoor grilling--in May 2009. Although the chef, who is known for his enthusiastic cooking style, has produced 12 titles with HarperCollins since 1993, the book will be his first in four years. It will also be one of HarperCollins' first releases under its new HarperStudio imprint.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, though Mr. Lagasse will receive a modest advance, as well as 50% of profits generated from the titles, according to Robert Miller, head of HarperStudio.

Who needs 10 more cookbooks from this guy?

I got a copy of one of his cookbooks as a gift.

It is useless, because every recipe requires one or more of Emeril's custom spices to make.

I am sure the recipes end up great if one is willing to invest in a custom spice cabinet

It seems to me his cookbook is more about selling his spice line than offering actual recipes.

I would love to see Michelle Obama on Emeril's show. They are both so upbeat.

It would be so fun to see them spice a dish with a charming BAM!

(i mean this sincerely).
