Palin Trooper Scandal's Mike Wooten: "I'm Moving On"

The Alaska state trooper at the center of a probe into whether Gov. Sarah Palin abused her power says he has "made mistakes, and I've learned from those mistakes."

But, in an exclusive interview with CNN, Mike Wooten -- Palin's former brother-in-law -- also denies some of the biggest allegations against him, including drinking while driving.

"I made mistakes. I fessed up to them. I was punished appropriately, and I'm moving on," said the 36-year-old, who went through a long, messy divorce and custody battle with Palin's sister.

Does not matter what the Investigation turn up. I saw this guy begin interviewed and he comes across as a bad apple. Even if Palin is in the wrong I dont think anyone will care.

I can't understand why this trooper was interviewed. Whenever there's a divorce with children involved, family feelings are strong and in some cases cause people to make rash decisions in the heat of the moment. Unfortunately when you're in a position of power, such as governor, you're not allowed to use that power for personal gain. We need to wait until Oct. 10th and let the process make the determination.

the guy has been divorced 4 times, wonder why? he has been accused of threatening to kill his then-father in law (the father of his estranged wife; that is, palin's father). there are witnesses who heard him threaten to shoot the father. he tasered his 11 year old step son. he's was reprimanded. there was a restraining order issued against him by a judge which was lifted whe a sargeant in the police department intervened. palin did not abuse her power. there were also allegations that he was drinking while driving around in his cruiser. it sounds like the guy is bad news and should not have been carrying a gun or a badge.

Wooten's treatment is typical Republican Revenge! Its kinda like back in grammar school when your dad said he'd 'deal with you' After the Principal got through with you. No matter that Wooten paid the 'official' price for his indiscretions, that is not enough! Republicans Always, Always 'get back' at anyone who crosses them, and nearly Always after the Law has pronounced sentence. This is yet another 'Mafia' tactic guaranteed to 'put that person' in his place, so he'll never do that again!

Its like you've stolen some money from one of them. The Law will find you guilty, make you pay it back, and maybe you'll serve some time. I'd love to donate more, but I'm without a job and have kids to feed, pity the state of IL doesn't enforce child support laws unless the custodial parent is drawing welfare. I totally agree that she is a distraction, and we should try to stay focused on the real issues and the differences between Obama and McCain.

We are falling right into the right wing tactics. Every time people start to pay attention to the truth in a meaningful way, they pull out something to divert.

It is distressing to watch so much media coverage given over to this candidate. I feel frustrated because Obama's positive message and the great feelings of hope for the future that I felt after his acceptance speech were not allowed to sit with people for 24 hours. The next day, the Republicans pull out Sarah Palin, and BOOM! News cycle stolen for the foreseeable future. Don't fall for it!
