Representative Charles B. Rangel has earned more than $75,000 in rental income from a villa he has owned in the Dominican Republic since 1988, but never reported it on his federal or state tax returns, according to a lawyer for the congressman and documents from the resort.

Mr. Rangel, chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, which writes the federal tax code, bought the beachfront villa at the Punta Cana Yacht Club and has received twice-yearly payments from the resort, which rents the property for $500 or more per night.

people should remember this about charlie rangel: (from impeachment hearings) "REP. GRAHAM: ... 'That poor child has serious emotional problems,' Representative Charlie Rangel said Tuesday night before the State of the Union. 'She's fantasizing and I haven't heard that she played with a full deck in other experiences.' One the most respected members of this House who was passing along something told to him by somebody. Charlie Rangel is a good man, but he was of the belief that this is a disturbed young lady.

All the dirty sh*t the clinton supporters will be coming out because their will NOT be a clinton in the White House or in power to protect them from the dirty deeds the clintons had on them for their unconditional support.

Don't worry their replacements have already been chosen due to their unconditional support.

This is part of the Change you can Believe in.

Enough of his many abuses-
Rangel is corrupt!
and has been for years.
NY'ers from Harlem need to consider what he's done for them during his last years in office.
Other than hold court, Harlem is being sold from people who have lived there for generations,
and Rangel is the main reason. He's why Bill Clinton, has an office there and why small businesses
are being shut down. Yet, he paid below market rates for his 4 prime-rate apartments.
It's time for Rangel to go! It's time for new leadership without nepotism, without old party alliances.

He needs to pay his bills and get punished. We can punish our leaders in a partisan way. If Stevens is in trouble, Rangel should be in trouble also. It's about accountability in government.

Pay your bills, Charlie, so we can continue to admire you.

This is not much more of a story than the back taxes for McCains properties. The quick read makes it look like he took $75,000 on the sly. This was the income after expenses on an investment property over several years and he was poorly advised by an accountant.

Ignorance is no excuse to the law. Rangel is ignorant and his actions are inexcusable. I'm sure if someone dug a little deeper, they'd find a lot more incriminating crap on this guy.

Meanwhile, he should immediately resign as Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee. By the way, what does "Ways and Means" mean?

This guy is a scum bag. The dems need to support someone else in his district next time he is up for election. No one in NY will miss him.

Tell me about it, I live in his district and to me this guy is what dirty corrupt politician is. it is funny that this guy write the tax laws, I think he will be a great member of BUSHCO since you only can apply for a job there if you are a lier, corrupt and criminal person.

This is from the AP that came this afternoon.

AP sept 05 2008.... BushCo today announced that after being a public company for 8 years they will go private effective on january 20 of 2009. George walker Bush the chairman of the company said the following: I am pleased that the dumb american people gave the chance to my company to serve for 8 years. During those 8 years my company recorded record profits due to the fact that we sent billions of tax money to our private accounts in Europe. we also raped the citizens with higher oil prices and higher inflation rates. The chairman of the company also said that his company also started a war based on lies and oil and profits. The company said that if Obama becomes president that they will try to make another comback in 2012 with Jeb bush the brother of the current chairman of the board George W Bush. Now the only thing that BushCO is concerned is about the CEO of the company Richard D Cheney who is rumored to go back to Halliburton.

Do you live in Rangel's district?

No, but I am very close to his district. If we want to push for change in washington, he should be one of the first to get the boot out.

Just more evidence that only a select few of the super rich really believe taxes should be raised and really believe that they should pay their fair share. Everyone else calling for tax hikes is hoping that someone else gets stuck with the bill.
