Tom Ridge Sums Up The McCain Platform

Well, that's the end of the Republican National Convention. Quite a night! Quite a message! That's a lot to absorb, but let's let Tom Ridge summarize the big takeaway from four days of McCain's coronation.

TOM BROKAW: But the fact is, governor, that you have had eight years of a bush administration and a lot of Republicans in Congress for the last eight years, so why wouldn't the american people say, look they had their shot we're going to change?

Freudian slips seem to have become somewhat of a mini epidemic among Republicans. With Noonan's off-the-air open-mic slip up, it's easy to see why. The really are saying one thing and thinking another. It's important to remember that every time they say "Red" we just say, "No, silly waliphant, you're thinking Blue!"

No. Sorry. I didn't mean to say or imply that Noonan had a slip of the Freudian sort. Just that the accidental outing of her true feelings underscores the fact that these Republicans are NOT at all saying publically what they're saying privately. There's always a tension when you lead a fake life in public and a real one behind the scenes. That's why the real one slips out occasionly when you let your guard down (open mic) or have to think fast (not something Republicansdo especially well).
