Obama And Stephanopoulos

Barack Obama gave an interview to George Stephanopoulos on ABC's This Week. The interview is set to air tomorrow morning, but here are some excerpts released by ABC.

On The Decision To Intervene On Behalf Of Fannie Mae And Freddie Mac

Intervention was necessary. I'm inclined to support some form of intervention to prevent a long-term, much bigger crisis...We are not bailing out shareholders and investors and management. They were making a lot of money because of the lack of regulation. All those profits were private. We don't want to make all those losses suddenly public and they get away without taking a haircut...We are going to have to take a look at how we regulate the financial markets and mortgages markets going forward.

On McCain's Choice Of Sarah Palin As His Running Mate

He chose somebody who may be even more aligned with George Bush - or Dick Cheney, or the politics we've seen over the last eight years - than john McCain himself is...She wouldn't be governor of Alaska is she wasn't a skilled politician, and I think her performance at the convention showed what a skilled politician she is.

I am totally surprised that the Obama Campaign decided to give George another interview. That shows what class they have. George and Charlie's debate in Philly was totally inept. George tried to emabarass, Barack with off the wall questions. All if did was show what a poor interviewer he really is.

Speaking of inept, why won't the Republicans let Palin talk to the Press. Since she is such a sharpe crackerjack Politician and carries a gun, she should be able to make mash potatoes out of anyone in the Press.

Could it be that they are afraid she will emabarras them with her real lack of experience for the world stage?

I wouldn't let George wipe my a*r*s*e. He couldn't do anything for me. After the way he treated Senator Obama during the Primaries. I do not like that man.

Regarding Obama's alleged inexperience, I posted this earlier. Stop saying he is inexeperienced. He has the legitimate backing of US Democrats and has earned the nominee spot by running an stellar campaign. Palin does not have that capability and is just a token nominee meant to steal the Clinton votes (in insult to the 18 million women who supported Clinton)

Obama's experience as an FYI

1. 1 year working for Business International (a sister company of our beloved newspapaper: The Economist)
2. 3 years as a Community Organizer serving the orphaned in the US community (so much for being an elitist don't you think)
3. 12 years as a Constitutional Law professor at University of Chicago
4. 3 years as a Civil Rights lawyer (again working for the orphaned in society fighting for economic development)
5. 7 years as a State Senator in a state
6. 4 years as a Federal Senator
7. Spent the last 18 months running the best campaign we've seen in the US (exhibiting financial discipline, organizational efficiency and expert use of technology). He pretty much went to Europe and demonstrated that he could have the US be perceived in a positive light by the rest of the world (if he becomes president, I dare say he doesn't need a Secretary of State, he may as well have that role as well - hope you get the joke)

After reviewing his experience, how can you objectively say he is not ready to lead?

Be objective please

If there was any doubt about Obama's experience to become President, then being a 12 year constitutional law professor puts them all to rest. He'll never need to be told what the job entails or what his limits on power are. He'll be ready on day one.

I think it's you that is not being objective. You've shined up his resume quite a bit. He has had a lack luster career riding on the coat tails of others and abusing his position to help people like Rezco take advantage of the disadvantaged. He was not a professor but rather a lecturer of constitutional law. He has had a total of 141 days in the senate and he has conveniently lost all of his state congressional records. The flurry of activity prior to his senate run was a hand off of legislation by Emil Jones to beef up his record. Americans were not impressed by his overseas tour as he lost support according to the polls after his trip.

"Americans were not impressed by his overseas tour"

Did you conduct state to state interviews to support that claim? Or did you hear it on TV?

"Resko take advantage if the disadvantage." Was this before or after he donated to the Clinton and Bush Campaign.

I love when people try to tell you about Chicago when there on the outside looking in.

Emil Jones was one of the best state senator Illinios and Chicago has ever seen.

Acutually he was a Professor of Constitual Law at the University of Chicago. Lectures do not have offices on campus.

Most Informed voter where very impressed. Even Mccain. That's when the rock star ads started.

First, it's not Rezco (and no, I am not going to provide the correct spelling for you, go learn something on your own)

Second, I will see your "Rezco" and raise you five Keatings - as in Keating 5

I'm always surprised at this line of argument. I guess the fact that Obama received twice as many votes as McCain in their last Senate races, or the fact that he received 25 times as many votes as Palin has ever received is meaningless? How about his 18 million primary votes? Ever heard "by the people for the people"?

Honestly why weren't these Americans you refer to not impressed with is overseas tour? I really don't get why it's a bad thing for people to like you.....that's the craziest thing to me.

"People like you so that's a bad thing".....that makes NO sense whatsoever.

I hear you, and pardon me for splitting hairs, but do note that 18 million "women" did not vote for Mrs Clinton. Granted it was almost 18 votes but they weren't all women.

I'm probably old school but many people don't write well these days. Besides normal typos, they confuse words like there, their & they're, were & where, here & hear, if, is & it, etc. It's not just in the comments section. I'm seeing typos in the original blogs themselves. What gives? Is it texting, lack of proper teaching or just being sloppy?
I make typos & mistakes, too and I'm not trying to be holier than thou. But this is occuring with increased frequency and I'm wondering why. Any clues?

The line of the mortgage crisis can be traced directly back to Phil Gramm and his work as a LOBBYIST for big banks, he also wrote the ENRON exception. This lack of regulation that has been responsible for our current fiscal crisis, and McCain promises more of the same from the exact same players!

She is:
Mayor with $27 mil in TAXPAYER Earmarks, for a town of 6000.
And still left it with $22 mil in debt.

Spent money not on useful public works, but for a sports complex that is underused. Built it on land that did not belong to the city. Left the city in litigation. Irresponsible.

Reformer? 2year a director of indicted Sen. Ted Stevens 527. That is how the mayor got the $27 mil. When he gets indicted, the mayor claims she is against corruption.

The Mayor of Wasilla did cut taxes, property taxes for the rich, but raised sales taxes that hit the middle class and the poor, taxes even on food.

Big Oil financed her mayoral bid!

Acively lobbied for the Bridge to Nowhere, before she was against it, then took the money anyway. Then said she was against it.

Promises to cooperate on an abuse of power investigation, but then stonewalls and refuses to testify.

As Governor: Projects with funding reduced by 50 percent include the following:
• Catholic Community Resources — counseling and adoption
• Fairbanks Community Food Bank

JUST LIKE A BUSH REPUBLICAN

It is not always what you know, in most cases with so few jobs that didn't go to the communist people in china, who you know. Fact Huff post bank fail in Nevada. McCain 's son involved before bank failed.
