New York Times:

Fresh from the Republican convention, Senator John McCain's campaign sees evidence that his choice of Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate is energizing conservatives in the battleground of Ohio while improving its chances in Pennsylvania and some Western states that Senator Barack Obama has been counting on.

Mr. Obama's campaign intends to focus heavily on the economy, especially in light of the mounting job losses, and to keep up the effort to tie the McCain-Palin ticket to the policies of President Bush. It is banking on holding all the states Senator John Kerry won in 2004 and picking up the additional electoral votes it needs by flipping some combination of Colorado, Indiana, Iowa, Nevada, New Mexico, Ohio or Virginia into the Democratic column.

Where are the attack ads the people paid for Obama. People don't watch the news, they vote on the ads and you have none.

My sister doesn't even know palins pro life views. McCain will be out with a new ad tomorrow, will you?

I'm from the Show Me State of Mo. We have seen enough people suffer, lose jobs, wages, out of work benefits, welfare to those who most need it, and we are hurting BAAAAD. We cannot afford 4 more years of Bush or his cronies. We need change NOW, for our Future, and for YEARS to come for our kids. We have seen too many funerals of our soldiers and families left to suffer that loss for years, others left wondering how thier sons and daughter's really died. Mo is a battleground state, and its a state that has seen enough suffering for decades. Our people are coming to gether to elect Barack Obamma, who believe in Barack Obamma, who need Barack Obamma. You don't need to look any farther than the many manufacturing jobs that have left Mo. You don't have to look at the wages that have left Mo. families losing homes or thier futures. Its obvious. We don't want JOhn McCane telling us how good we have it, we know its a lie. Obamma/Biden '08" for MO. For America.

For the past 7+ years of the Bush Administration all I have heard from most of people is what a terrible President Bush has been, how the economy is the worst they have ever seen, how they are NOT better off then even 4 years ago. Yet when a "women" with "lipstick" shows up as a VP candidate and says that (they) are for change, most of these people do not realize that a Republican is a Republican no matter how they try to pull the wool over your heads.

We are doomed to make the same mistake with another team of "Republicans." If the citizens of this nation elects "McCain/Palin," then this country deserves whatever it gets.

mijumom has some great questions in her post. here's a couple really simple ones.

conservatives hate big government. palin is a self-identified conservative. and yet she grew government while she was a mayor - she hired an administrator, which no mayor of Wasilla had done before.

conservatives hate taxes and government spending. During her 6 years as mayor, she increased general government expenditures by over 33%. During those same 6 years the amount of taxes collected by the City increased by 38%.

oh and what about earmarks? conservatives hate earmarks. But Palin only opposed the “bridge to nowhere” after it became clear that it would be unwise not to (but kept the money). As Governor, she gave the legislature no direction and budget guidelines, then made a big grandstand display of line-item vetoing projects, calling them pork. Public outcry and further legislative action restored most of these projects--which had been vetoed simply because she was not aware of their importance.

So step up, Palin-lovin conservatives. defend your VP candidate, or admit you're a bunch of hypocrites.

The internet serves to counter and keep the MSM honest. I suggest you take advantage of that - blog everywhere and digg or share stories.

There’s a Facebook group with 39,000+ members called “I have more foreign policy experience than Sarah Palin.” You need an account to visit the spot.

SOCIAL COMMUNITY WORK:
To all you republicians who laughed and snickered about public social work, obama was trying to help out of work steel workers. Steel workers republicians put out of work (like youngstown, ohio... my home town.) beware, there are alot of ditch diggers and dishwashers out there. they take care of your streets, your sewage, your garbage and just about every civic thing you need to maintain your NIMBY life style. (things palin didn't fight for in her home town. she built a road... not bridge to nowhere which she was for before she was against... but the road to the bridge... and a hockey arena on disputed land) but back to my subject... they wash your dirty dishes while trying to eek out a better life. a while back, GWB, on tv, applauded a single mother working two jobs as the spirit of AMERICA. what he should have said was he was sorry that his administration lost 10,000,000 good paying jobs to ours companies overseas to give them tax breaks before it created $8/hr jobs...geez thanks!!!. the trickle down theory of economics didn't work under Reagan and it hasn't worked again with the massive tax breaks to large companies. ENOUGH!!!

Trying one more time- To any real Repub here. I want to understand your take on this whole P alin thing. I get that it is strategic and may garner McC more votes. However, After months of McC ridiculing O as being an inexperienced "celebrity", how do you reconcile his choice of P alin? I mean he was the one who promised that he would do better and he literally stated that given his old age, he would choose the most qualified VP he could find. I get that you think she is more qualified than O but wasn't the whole point that McC had different values than the Dems? That his profound love of country and his pragmatism would ensure that he would pick a super-qualified candidate? So, what happened to that? Why don't any Repubs seem to care? I would say it is a massive betrayal and that anyone who wanted to vote for McC the military guy and the "maverick" will likely end up with P alin who has a real flair for spinning yarns and a tremendous "celebrity" appeal but she cannot be taken seriously as a potential Commander in Chief. It seems McC's whole argument against O is embodied by P alin. Why are you so supportive of McC gimmicking his way into office and potentially leaving you with a ridiculous prospect for POTUS? Please explain your point of view (and petty people need not respond, I am hoping for a real explanation).

I am sure Pronto will respond with a well reasoned diatribe about O's experience.

Well... McCain obviously wanted Lieberman. And I think had Obama chosen whom he wanted(Tim Kaine), then McCain would have chosen Joe and hit Obama on the lack of experience of their ticket. But when Obama chose to make the political decision of Biden to shore up his thin foreign policy resume, McCain decided to shake up his base and in some ways to highlight Obama's inexperience. It's kind of like, "Okay, you Democrats are going with an unproven for president, so I'll chose an unproven for vice president. Then when the Dems cry 'UNPROVEN, ONLY A HEARTBEAT AWAY.' I can say, 'Wouldn't you rather have a vice president who needs on-the-job-training than a president who does?'" She also appeals to middle class Americans (I know you libs don't believe this, but it's true).

I agree that Palin does not have enough experience for the presidency, but neither does Barack.
He's most experienced at running for office -- less than 150 days work in the senate. And his days as a community organizer and a member of the Illinois Senate are not really a big help in learning how to run a country. Again, I'm not saying he isn't smart enough, just that this argument that he has enough experience is pretty weak.

That doesn't mean he won't be a good president if he wins, but face it, he IS inexperienced as far as executive experience goes. Palin does have more EXECUTIVE EXPERIENCE than Obama.

I get the strategy. What I am asking about is why Repubs don't take offense at their nominee flip flopping on his biggest issues. Wanting to have a Prez that is experienced and ready to deal with McC's promised "more wars" was his most compelling point (at least to me). I am not going to quibble over who is more qualified to be prez. Personally, I think McC has experience but the wrong kind...he is antagonistic, apparently unstable and has become a champion of too many B ush policies. So, then there is P alin who Repubs have embraced with no hesitation and no resentment at the lack of prior vetting and her persistent evasiveness. If O had behaved this way, I would have been absolutely mortified (probably too much so to vote for him). I get that they wanted their own "celebrity" but again, don't Repubs see the hypocrisy? It is so glaring and manipulative. P alin stands a very good chance of being Prez if McC wins, the weight of his decision was enormous and he blew it off for a gimmick.

As far as Executive Experience, this is semantics. Plus, she left Wasilla in debt. Is it just being able to say "I have more executive experience" that is supposed to be tantamount to the right kind of experience? Does performance mean anything? Regardless, even if she was a truly legitimate pick, how do folks rally around someone they know NOTHING about???

Values voters are in love with "narratives"..... not issues! Tell them what they want to hear about the issues, then give them lots of appealing narratives. I think that is called "marketing." Afterall, they voted for the most disasterous president in history....TWICE!! Why can't we all ust get along? You can have your values, and I can have mine........ then we all "vote" on the specifics that actually have something to do with running the government.

Absolutely! I was thinking the same thing. They've "branded" themselves as change agents with SP on the ticket now. It's all marketing and smoke and mirrors, with nothing underneath.

I really feel the "planned" Oct 2004 Os a ma video put out caused one of the reasons why it went to boneheadbush.

But not all were scared into it voting for him. Oregon wasn't because we research and think before we cast our votes.

Great line out there: "You voted for me not only for one term but two terms! And you all think I'm stooopid!"

Why is it that the McDino supporters have no positions about economics, health care, or energy? Only attacking and never bringing up McDino's schemes to loot America for his lobbyist partners that run his campaign?

Agreed. All we hear is rhetoric, sarcastic remarks and a lot of Drill Baby Drill chanting intertwined with all the lies they're telling. (And also someone needs to inform them of a technology called Google, in which any of their lies can be debunked in about 30 seconds).

If that's their idea of a plan to bring change to Washington, no thanks!
