This is why the work on the ground in terms of registration is so important: in August alone, the Obama campaign registered 49,000 new voters in Virginia:

State election officials told the campaign Friday that 49,000 new voters signed up in August, a sharp increase from the 36,500 who signed up in July and the 28,000 who registered in June.

The goal of the Obama campaign was 150,000 total by the time the October 5th deadline rolls around, which leaves one month to get the remaining 36,500. Hats off to all VA Democrats who must have been working so hard on this.

This is great news. All over the country (in the vast majority of states), Obama has the superior ground game. And that ground game has produced the 49,000 new voters in August in Virginia. As a volunter for the campaign, I am hearing similar stories in states like GA, FL, NC, MO, CO, NM, NV, and MT. This is going to be an election for the record books in terms of turnout, volunteer participation, interest, etc.

Barack Obama's candidacy has done more than BO himself will be able to fully realize and process by the time he is sworn into office next January.

Just be aware the Republicans are going to challenge every vote, every address and continue to disenfranchise the minority voters in the battleground states

LOOK,,, Americans will NOT be denied their right to VOTE.

We see this attempt to steal the vote early BUT, it is our job to get this information out. WE,,, you me and ALL of America have been giving a gift by Karl ROVE. WE, know now what he is trying to do. We have 60 days to work and work DARN HARD.

Everyone needs to check his or her Voters Registration.

WE also need to find our local Voters drive headquarters and see if we can help.

Now darn it all THINK, people THINK.

We have advanced notice this time. It is not like Florida in 2000, AFTER the fact, we now have WARNING.

Will Hand written e-mails help? I am talking e-mails written BY you to friends and relatives that YOU know? Phone calls alerting others, to these threats to American Voting rights?

Basically, we can no longer count totally on others. We can"t sit by and watch from the sidelines. We must take action. If any of you are watching, NONE of this is even being spoken of in the MSM. Not one word.

Not only is it THE TIME for change it is OUR TIME to CHANGE.

All the best

But it must be further understood, Karl Rove has been kept conveniently on the side lines, at their propoganda station, and surpressing the vote is one thing, but what is paramount, and the vote COUNT!

No, this isn't 2000, or 2004, and when they manipulate the COUNT, and literally steal votes, is one thing, and surpressing the vote is another.

Just so long as my vote is counted, is MY major concern, and counted how I want it to be counted and as I voted. This is the lastest in vote theft...

"I don"t know where bin Laden is. I have no idea and really don"t care. It"s not that important. It"s not our priority."
- G.W. Bush, 3/13/02

"I am truly not that concerned about him."
- G.W. Bush, repsonding to a question about bin Laden"s whereabouts,
3/13/02 (The New American, 4/8/02)

Why in Gods name are the Democrats not reminding the American people of this?

* Republicans must own thier failures *

Maybe we shouldn't release these numbers. Maybe we need not give the right a heads up on where to rig voting machines and by how much..they have to be careful...they can only do small percents in small areas..
Plus these stunts they are already working on...caging etc.
If the right wants numbers on new registers...let them do the leg work to get it.

I'm just not a big fan of bragging

Now we just need another 551,000 to break even for the 600,000 that have been illegally caged by the pubs in Ohio.

But why is Obama now behind in he polls? Not tied, but well behind?

Don't believe the hype. After spending the day in Va, registering voters, there are far more people voting for Obama then we are led to believe. And the people I met today, certainly did fit the criteria of those who feel they know who does and who doesn't like Obama. The true story is that the country wants their money back from the last eight years and McCain can't return it. In fact, he would take more from hardworking people in small town VA. Get out and check for yourself. It is the only way to get an accurate picture.

LOL. No offense, but your statement about your one "day in Va" is laughable. As the film critic Pauline Kael once wrote, disbelieving the outcome of the Nixon-McGovern election of 1972, "Nixon can't have won; no one I know voted for him."

McCain 08, Palin 12/16. Nighty night.

Well, obviously you can't believe the polls

I never believed them even when Obama was up. All that matters is election day.

Besides, next week, the poll will sing a diff tune.

I will say I never listen to polls. They do not include those who use cell phones. I only use a cell phone as well as everyone else in my family (adult children, sister, brother-in-law, nephews) the only person I know that uses a land line is my senior parents. Which are both voting Obama. So these so called polls do not reflect the whole of all who will vote.

Vote Obama/Biden

Poll of polls, known to be highly accurate (at least for Baseball projections). Obama wins in a landslide.

Many of the pollsters say that they weight the poll accordingly. for cell phones. i'm with you, though; hope not.

Obama in Big Trouble. A USA Today/Gallup poll coming out tomorrow shows a HUGE BOUNCE for Mccain. Up By 10. http://www.usatoday.com/news/politics/election2008/2008-09-07-poll_N.htm

Read the poll correctly it says: 50-46, that is 4 with an error rate of 3. Looks like a tie. Convention bounce

In the gallup tracking poll McCain is up by 4, but in Rassmusen they are tied. At the end of the Dem convention Obama was up by 8. It would have lasted longer if the repubs had not had their convention so quickly after it. And McCain waited to name his VP, knowing it would squash Obama's bounce. Just like him coming out with all the nasty ads while the Dem convention was going on. But then mcCain did not come out with any substansive ads, only negative, and no issues in his convention either. And stupid people will vote for him, why? What do they know of his policies?
Obama is not in big trouble...

Governor Palin is a Trojan Horse. Leave her alone. Stick to McCain/Bush, McCain/Bush. Stick to the economy and the differences between the PRESIDENTIAL candidates. Keep the focus on judgement and temperament to be commander in chief. Leave Sarah to the National Enquirer. They need to sell issues (I just bought one for the first time ever) and they are not about to let her ice cream cone get away. By the way, I am fighting a little bit of depression. I was on pollingreport.com and they have a USA Today/Gallop poll of likely voters that shows McCain with a 54/44 lead over Obama (to fight the negative feelings I have just volunteered to go to Nevada to register voters). Does anyone have insight into these poll results released today?

"Governor Palin is a Trojan Horse"

With all due respect, if Gov Palin had anything to do with Trojans, her daughter might not be in the spot she's in.

Polls are so useless, they change every minute, one day one candidate is up, the next the other candidate is up. The only thing that will count is voting on November 4th!!

Let's tell the polls where whey can go!

49,000 voters.

That's almost half of the number of votes Sarah Palin has received in her entire lifetime, in both elected jobs (110,000).

Obama/Biden need to do what they do best, keep on being true to discussing the issues, keep their field offices registering new Democratic voters, just the way that Obama came up from not being considered seriously and all the while using his community organizing skills :) to figure out how to run his campaign by staying focused, having a disciplined campaign organization, etc. and s. palin can be dissected by the national enquirer (she has put her children and her high rigid morals out there for all to dissect and remember the nat'l enquirer outed john edwards affair and the republicans loved that, so let the entertainment media go after her on that front).

Are they 49,000 people that are actually alive?

You know you have to watch out for community organizing groups like ACORN registering dead people and people that aren't real.
